I am in quite the predicament

I will be attending a local community college in which my major currently is general studies.
I have a love for psychology, sociology, and biology, however these degree paths are obviously not very lucrative unless you go to grad school. I have thought about just skipping college all together and become an Lpn, or go for an associates in criminal justice and either become a correctional officer or police officer. I know people that have graduated in the soft sciences with a bachelors and make at max 26k a year, and i know few biologist graduates who make between 30-45k, and the 45k one is someone with over ten years of experience; I believe 13. These people also have loans to pay off, they won't have them paid off for at least ten to twenty years. I can go into the less intelligent thought of professions ( however i find them the most logical) because i'll literally no debt, and will be making 38-45k starting, with permanent promotion opportunities. I'm wondering what other people think about this, and your opinions?

Have you ever considered safety technology? I actually checked the program description out today for my school. It requires biology, psychology, chemistry, physics, math, statistics, and some emphasis courses. At least at my school.

[CITE Undergraduate Safety Technology Program - Marshall University](http://www.marshall.edu/cite/academics/programs/PDescSedUCur.htm)

To make it easy, here’s part of the description:

“The safety profession is an occupational field concerned with the preservation of both human and material resources through the application of various principles drawn from such disciplines as engineering, education, psychology, physiology, enforcement, hygiene, health, physics and management. “Safety Science” is a term for everything that goes into the prevention of accidents, illnesses, fires, explosions and other events which damage people, property and the environment.”

Hey Jon thanks for the reply, I also have a very similar program at a nearby college. The issue that im having is the job market for something of that nature. I feel as if ill end up working in something that is not affiliated with that program, since the projected increase in any public safety job is near eight percent, within a twenty year period, that is terrible compared to any other job i’ve seen. I personally don’t see it as viable but will consult other people.

I’m just throwing ideas. I’m an engineering major, personally. You mentioned LPN. Have you considered RN?

I have though it is beyond competitive, it would be easier to get into medschool. My local community college rejects people with 4.0 gpas and decent to above sat/act scores, something that competitive isn’t for me. I’m actually thinking a job as a mortician is probably my most viable option.

I think many things have become my most viable options, life…
