I am incredibly frustrated, help

While you guys are all talking about your FAFSA, my parents still havent gotten all their W2s. My mom worked in 5 places last year, and one of them, where she earned an amount of money she cant estimate, hasnt sent the W2 yet. Today we called the accountant, who very angrily told us that just wednesday of next week hed start sending the W2s to everyone, that we couldnt hurry and it was our own fault. My father, who's divorced, has had the esame exact problem, and I dont even know if he ll get it by next month. After we get the W2s, which I estimate wont even be nexxt week, we have to go to the accountant, which will take around another week. I believe that by then, we'll be past March 1st.

I applied to many schools, with Feb 1 deadlines, Feb 15, and March 1. Also, Cornell, which is special itself. I estimated everything in the FAFSA to an amount close to the one we ll get, EFC 0. But basically, besides the CSS profile, the FAFSA is the only things the schools are receiving, not the taxes at all, and they can see on the FAFSA and CSS that they aint the "true" amounts.

Idk what to do. a school which i was very interested in already told me the couldnt give me financial aid b/c they didnt receive the taxes by Feb 1st. I didnt even call the other schools because I am scared. I am freaking out, i just cant believe after I killed myself in school and applied to all these awesome schools into which i know I will be accepted, at least into 1, i wont be able to attend because i wasnt able to send them my taxes on time.

PLEASE, WHAT CAN I DO? IM DYING

thanks so much

Just fill out your FAFSA before February 15. If you are really desperate, you should file a fafsa and estimate to the best of your ability.

Besides you can always go back and make corrections when you get your taxes done, just make sure you put down your 2008 tax status as 'will file'

Just estimate. Even if your numbers are off it makes you meet the deadlines and you can correct it all later.

Could you be misunderstanding something about the deadlines and what's expected by them? It seem unlikely to me that any college would have expected completed 2008 taxes by Feb 1st. Many people do not have their w-2s in time to accomplish that. I know some schools will take your early estimates, and then also want to see the previous year's completed taxes (in this case, 2007). Or are you just talking about filing the FAFSA? You can file it with your estimates, so what is the problem?

Also, once you do get the w-2s, I wouldn't wait on an accountant if you feel there is some great rush to get them done. If you have a 0 EFC, I'm not sure how complicated your taxes can be. Having a large number of w-2s doesn't make it inherently more complicated. We get 12 or more w-2s every year, and I can do the taxes on TaxCut or TurboTax software with no problem.

the matter is that this year my mom worked in 4 different companies and opened her own business, which is not diong well but we know for a fact if she does not get an accountant (which is a friend of ours) she will input more money than the one it is.

the matter is that i did the fafsa already, what i cant do is send them the copies of the taxes and w2s. i just called another school and they told me they can not do anything about it, it is simply unbelievable.

By not completing your requirements before the priority deadline, you are not totally missing out on getting aid. You just might not get the best possible package you might otherwise get - say, for example, you would be eligible for SEOG (government grant money). Each school gets a limited pool of SEOG money, and if you would be eligible for it, you would be sure to get it if you applied by the priority deadline. If you miss the deadline, though, you could possibly miss out on that money.

Just urge your parents to finish up as quickly as possible.
