I am not a statistic: Pursuit to break 2100.

I heard that it’s also bad. My school has never sent a student to a school higher than rank 33.

How do you guys recommend studying for the SAT IIs, and how did you decide which ones to take? I took my first SAT (I’m a junior) last Saturday.

I decided U.S. History and Chem since I took respective AP classes for them. I studied up chem facts and stuff with Sparknotes, Barrons, and official Chem subject tests from the 1990s. Felt super confident about it and it showed. Didn’t feel so good about History, but I did well in the end and the AMSCO book probably saved my score like 60 points.

@blankk did you take them after the courses were over? I’m currently in APUSH, and not a big fan of history. Would you recommend I take the test?

Got psat’s coming up soon, should give me a fairly good idea of how I’m going to do I guess. Not studying as much as I did before but still doing stuff from time to time. Precalc is a killer…not especially hard but I end up spending about an hour and a half on it every day, which is quite a bit for me haha. Need to do good in that and Chemistry cuz I really want AP Chem and AP Calc and to get into those you need stellar grades in the regular class!
Sorry not really related to SAT stuff lol.

Btw Haphazard, if you don’t achieve your score of 2100, you plan on retaking them?

yeah I am applying EA to some without my SAT 2’s (just one Chinese and one decent USH) and my SAT 1 that I just took. I’m looking at some of the schools you are Haphazard, but I really need to be realistic and not get my hopes up.

As someone already said, I wouldn’t stress too much on Freshman year grades as long as you have a positive upwards trend. Fresh. year would probably matter to you more if you were planning on applying to UC schools since they don’t really care about EC’s as much.

@26antara
Yeah, I took the test after my two year (my school’s weird) APUSH course. I’m not a fan of history either, but by going hard on all those facts, and with a good amount of luck, I got a 770. On an official practice test the night before, I got a 710 though so I did get really lucky… Be prepared to cram if taking it in November or December!

Senior here taking November SAT. I was originally registered for the October SATs but felt I wasn’t prepared to reach my target score.

I’m going to be sending this score out to my EA schools.

Well, feel free to post your daily routine/questions. I made a 96 on my Calc final! Haha. Anyways, I’m going to try to finish up a few applications today. I’ll definitely be prepping tomorrow. I have to study for a few more finals. I won’t have the entire day to prep Friday, but part of the day because I have to go research at a university. I also want to tour a few campuses: Emory, GATech, etc.

So, I failed my physics final and it dropped my grade like 5 points! I’m pretty disappointed because I have a B in physics now. I’m working on college applications, so SAT will have to wait a bit. I finished 1 app today, and I’ll hopefully be able to finish a second app tomorrow. If all goes well, then I can maybe revamp my study plan on Saturday. The essay is super important, so I’m going to try to take my time. The school doesn’t take guidance counselor/teacher recommendations, which sucks. I think the completion of 1.4 apps is a decent day in terms of work haha. I also played cod for 2 or so hours, worked out for an hour, and played basketball for 45 min. Sssssssssssssh.

Working out? who has time for that kind of thing haha

Hahahahaha. I finished the long essay for one of my college apps. I’m so happy haha. Unfortunately, I still have the agitating 1000 character essay to finish. I can honestly say that I hate selling myself to colleges.

Working out is so essential when you are stressed out. Personally I have swim practice everyday so it helps a lot bc I can release a lot of stress and frustration over cough* calculus cough* into something positive.

anyhow, working on my last two EA supplements.

I designated essentially ALL of yesterday to finishing one of my Supplements. It’s weird, I don’t even remember being that distracted, but I still only got two 300 character essays done and one 1000 one >__>. Ughh. I hate deciding between applications and homework. The former is obviously more important but getting B’s in all my classes would be regrettable if my ED option doesn’t work out. AHHHHH

Haphazard, you play cod on ps3? If so, send me your username. I haven’t been on since I took my SAT and now I have to write a bunch of College Application essays. I started my Commonapp, all i have left is the writing section and extracurriculars, I also need to get letters of recommendation, kind of nervous how to ask my teachers… How does it work if anyone knows, do you have to send teacher’s email in the supplement?

Btw, I now changed my mind and am applying ED to UPenn.

I definitely want to start swimming. I want to try something different, and swimming definitely seems interesting. I’m thinking about starting after I’m finished with college apps and such. Maybe I’d be decent enough to swim in college if they have tryouts. It’s unrealistic because I’d only have like a year and half worth of experience, but it’s worth trying, I guess. I wrote two different versions of the same app, and this other app is frustrating the crap out of me lol. I sent you the psn naveedownz. I might actually play in a bit, because I need to chill for a bit haha. Tomorrow, I’ll definitely get back to SAT prep. Homework, well, I’m just gonna do it later lol.

Yeah, I’ll add you sometime this week when i get a chance, i blew the whole day yesterday on ps3 so now i got to do all of this weekend’s homework today…
I hope college app essays don’t take too long, i had nothing done because i was going to apply regular decision, then all of a sudden my dad tells me to do ED so i have to do the whole app in about 15 days

Oh wow. Disregard the pm haha. I read the pm before I read this post. Yeah, I’ve decided that I’m not going to apply ED anywhere. I’m afraid that I’ll have to take on massive loans if I get accepted to some of the out of state schools that I’m applying to. However, I am applying to 2 schools EA. I submitted the app for one two days ago, and I’ll hopefully be able to submit the app for the other school today. The app is due tomorrow haha.

I finished the second app! I just have to read over everything like 4 times. I’m probably going to submit it tomorrow morning. It’s due tomorrow, but I’m assuming that it’ll be due anytime before 11:59 pm. Am I right? SAT prep when I get home. I’ll have a schedule tomorrow for the SATs.

yeah im doing EA to 3 schools too, no ED for me
my hope is to get into at least 1 EA school so its less stressful for me when decisions come.
