this is just a rant, but im hella ****ed so i am making it a new post.

i was going over my wharton ed essay which i sent in like four weeks ago, and i found a major typo. the auto correct on my computer changed “carpet” (i must of typed it wrong) into “crap ed”. so basically, im f’d.

how does crap even come up on autocorrect? it's not part of the default dic. file haha, someone must've added it to the custom dictionary ;)

but something constructive... all you can hope for is that they realize that, i mean, it's one thing, i don't know about the withdraw reapply thing, best call admissions to ask

I read on a Rice thread that someone wrote "such ass" instead of "such as" and still got accepted :D. That was understandable - just an extra "s". I don't get how your spellcheck formatted carpet as crap ed though... what was the context? maybe it'll turn out pretty self-explainatory. Or many it'll give them a good laugh and let you in. Who knows.

they probably can figure out it's carpet from context, so don't worry so much...I can't imagine you would be rejected for a typo, that'd be crazy

yeah....ummm lol maybe you'll get a less serious guy reading your essay and MAY find humor in it as i am right now lol...what was the context for the word? if it seems like it fits in the essay, then just take the risk-you never know!
plus "crap" is not that bad of a word

They haven't formally started reviewing applications yet, if you're really worried about it why not call the admissions office and say that you've spotted a minor typo in your essay and ask if it would be OK to send in a clean copy. Perhaps no one need ever know. :)

I would seriously not worry about it. They will probably understand what you are trying to say. Everyone has a typo once in a while, so they won't reject you for it. Relax!

Do you even care about the application? Clearly you don't care at all because you didnt even look it over. This is why admit rate is so low because people dont give a **** about their apps.

It's NOT a big deal. Don't even think about re-sending anything.

So they might get a laugh out of it. From what I know, they get few enough laughs when readings apps anyway. They'll have seen many,
many more typos before you and will see many more after. If they're amused, if might make them remember you better and give a bit more humanity to your app. I doubt it's possible to send in "a fresh copy" anyway.

They're used to imperfection in the apps.
Let it be.

omg you are not going to get in. in fact they are going to come to your house and shoot you! for not being able to spell. man i am so stalking you.

lol, to be honest. An admissions officer quick reads the essays and I doubt they'll even notice... plus their mind might auto fill in the next word in the sentence and they'll think it says carpet. Just be optimistic and I still think it won't affect you

pinkmuscat, is it true you got in? If so, congratulations, and I look forward to seeing you on the Walk next year! What did I tell you? It wasn't a big deal at all.
