I am over the transfer unit cap for Cal.

I am over the transfer unit cap for Cal because of the many CCC classes I took during my high school years. I am a competitive applicant despite this fact. Does anyone know anyone who was in my situation that still got in? Does anyone have any advice for me?

is this your second year at a CCC?

cal doesn't have unit cap for ccc transfers

i thought it does but the cap only goes into effect after two years at ccc

Cal has a unit cap that it accepts upon entrance. In other words, if you have 1000 units, they'll only take...what was it...120 sem.? Something around there.

Cal does not view CCC students with high credits any different from students with lower units.

My advice for youuuuu would be to read the Berkeley website. :)

120 sem. units = requirement for graduation

Oops I failed to mention that I am currently a second year at UC Davis.

If you have 1000 units they'll only take 70 units.

Go for private schools OOS then.

Thank God! i exactly will hav 60units by spring. Dont hav to worry about it.

tiberius: are u serious,

and how many quarter units is taht?

private schools OOS are too expensive and I love Berkeley like i love steak and sushi

Yes the max a UC will take apparently is 70 semester units even if you go over

If you have over 80 UC semester units, it says most programs won't accept you.......................yea...

70 semester units x 1.5 = 105 quarter units.

Apparently you did not read all of it. Right after it says that it says the following:

EXCEPTION: If all coursework was completed at a two-year college, this excess unit policy **does not apply.**

"80 UC semester units"

I've read that page one too many times over the last 6 months :(

April 30 is WAYYYYYYY TOO FAR

Woundedbear, how many UC units do you have (not UC transferrable units...actual UC units)

Tiberius,

This thread is to discuss Wounded_Bear's situation. Not all of his coursework was completed at a two-year college.

Only if all your units are from a two-year college will excess units not count against you.

Great, so if I take summer classes at Berkeley, I'll get screwed by the unit cap? I guess I'll start looking for a summer internship now...

Does anyone know if they calculate AP scores when you send in your application? I feel like 4 semesters of college and 6 AP's with a score of 3+ would mean that I do in fact have more than 58 hours.

LOL, you shouldn't really worry. I am going to have close to 150 quarter units after two years at CCC (without AP).

And I can tell you, there are plenty of people like me in my college. So if you are from a CCC and you blow past the 70 mark, you shouldn't really worry at all.
