I am panicing need some input

I have a 2.94 GPA and have completed a year of bio, a year of o chem, and a year of calc. I applied as a **biochemist major/b to several schools. My EC is Volunteering for 100+ Hours and working part-time 50% during my CC education. I have a upward trend in my GPA. As of right now (not that it matters), I have straight A's in 20 units.

I have been going to CC for 2 years and this being my 3rd year. Recently in my spring semester of my 2nd year, it just hit me how important school was and I started trying with my summer semester, and fall semester for my 3rd year. For those 3 semesters, my GPA has been the highest.

I have 6 units (2 classes) of W's. I also have 2 F's and a D (15 Units) that I made up and got B's in all of them.

Schools I applied to/Along with chances I have considered

Low Shot of Getting Into:

UCSD (5% chance)

Cal Poly SLO (10% Chance)

Low/Medium:

UCI (25% Chance)

UCD (45% Chance)

UCSB (35% Chance)

Medium:

UCSC (55% Chance)

Medium/High:

UCR (60% Chance)

Cal Poly Pomona (65% Chance)

CSULB (70% Chance)

SDSU (65% Chance)

I just got my first letter from a CSULB saying I got rejected, CSULB was the school I though I was guaranteed to get into, but now I am shocked. I don't even know what school I could go to if I couldn't even get into the school I thought would be easiest to be accepted by.What are the chances of me even being accepted to a university?

Can I appeal to a UC/Cal State if I get straight A's this semester (which is VERY LIKELY, at the moment I have over a 100% in 4 of the 6 classes I am taking. The other 2 I have above a 90%). By telling them my character has built and I am taking my education seriously?

actually i would say it easier getting into Ucr and Ucsc than csulb because csulb gets waaay more applicants. And if your not in that area you don’t get priority. (anyone who lives in teh long beach area gets in with a 2.4+. So if your not in that county its pretty hard to get into.

alright well that is starting to make me feel a lot better, I was really scared thinking that if I couldn’t get into a Cal state, I definitely would not be able to make it into a UC. thank you

CSU schools (especially SDSU) are pretty rigid in accepting the most local applicants. I live in north San Diego and the cutoff for SDSU when thinking of someone as a “local” applicant is 10 minutes south of me. I’m only 30 minutes from SDSU.

As for appeals, don’t bother. Very few succeed and they’ll never succeed on the basis of spring grades. If they did, everyone would appeal who got good grades in the spring.

UCR is probably the school you have the best chance at, you’ll probably get in there. I’d say you have a better chance at a UC than a CSU considering how bad of a shape the CSU system is right now. Also, are you local to any of the schools, that helps. My friend got into UCSD with a 2.9 or something, he got d’s and f’s but made them up. He was at a local SD CC for 3 years and was an electric engineering major. Also if you in fact do get straight A’s for your last semester, appeal and show them how well you did (if they are challenging classes, not like PE or some low unit class), it is definitely worth a shot. Anything is possible, I would be shocked if you got rejected from all the schools.

I am not in the service area for any of these CSU’s. My local CSU is northridge, which is bleh to me. My dream schools to get into are either SDSU, UCSC, or UCD. I wouldn’t mind UCR, it is just the area that I don’t like. My friend had his place vandalized over there and has had stuff stolen.

wait is that how csus work? if you are in the area of a certain csu do u have a better chance of getting in?

Yup, CSUs are much more inclined to accept local students. And I mean LOCAL. Like I said, I’m 30 minutes from SDSU and 10 minutes from the “cutoff” point.
