Well I'm in college, applied as a transfer to UCLA, UCI, UCR, UCSB, Pepperdine, USC, Loyola Marymount, and CSU's. But my chances aren't alot, well I think I'll only get into CSU's because my gpa is 3.0
my major is psychology which is very impacted and makes it even harder to get into UC's. BUt I always wanted to go to either to UCLA or to Pepperdine. This is already my 3rd year in college, I have classes for winter in progress and for spring planned. I hope after spring my gpa will boost. But now I am having 2nd thoughts on should I transfer now, or should I stay in college for another year so i can raise my gpa up and go somewhere that i always wanted to go? I am really lost. i don't know, is there even a way to cancel an application to universities? I'm not sure that's the right way though..... any advices? :((

i dunno i dont want to be a downer but i think psych is pretty competitive for ucla. not sure about pepperdine. i dont think only another year of cc will raise your gpa to what you need to be a competitive applicant. see where you get in this year, and then plan accordingly for next year.

What college do you go to now?
If you don’t want to transfer then don’t transfer yet. I dont think theres a way to cancel your application or get your money back at this point.
I think you should stay another year where ever you’re at and get decent grades that will get you to the place you want.
Also too I know it’s good to apply everywhere but I think you should narrow your schools down to like 5 because application fees can get a bit pricey.
On the upside if you did TAG when you applied a 3.0 can get you into some UC’s.

Hey guys thanks for the answers. Well I go to both Los Angeles Valley college and Los Angeles Pierce College. I have one class in session now and I’m 99% sure I’m gonna get an A in this class. Then I’ll have around 14 units in Spring 2011 (I will be trying VERYYY HARD to get all A’s in Spring, I’ll have like 5 classes) I guess that will raise my gpa a bit right? but well my concern is that universities send their decision in April or May right? So i won’t be done with the spring semester and they won’t see my new and higher gpa. But if I stay this year, well I’ll take classes in Summer too, and then full time for Fall, some class in Winter and then Spring 2012. I think I will be able to raise it by the time I apply next year what do you think? And plus, I am thinking about taking some classes in another area, most likely something related to translator. I might want to double major or minor in Translations/Languages. any advice??

They only see your gpa up to fall 2010 when making admission decisions. So your winter/spring won’t matter anyways…

oh and one more thing, it’s okay that there isn’t way to get my money back, but IF i decide to stay another year in cc, i wanted to cancel my app to not get denied you know, isn’t it bad for re-applying next year? or it doesn’t make any difference?

thanks berkeleyphil
so I guess i should stay another year

it doesn’t make a difference if you get rejected. they only care about your grades, mostly for UC’s. Pepperdine is a whole different system and what not, so i’m sure you need to have a competitive GPA and be well rounded with extra curriculars.

thankss very much raacheeel!!!

I am still deciding what to do, well i think I’ll wait to see where I get in, and then will decide. Now i want to major in foreign language also! I want to also have a license to do translations. So i might stay another year to both raise my gpa and to take some foreign language classes…
