I am so so angry. Please help me.

IM SO ANGRY> THe computer runs fine for 3 years and then my brother has to ruin everything for me, just like he has ruined everything the past 16 years I've lived. So he comes on and looks at whatever porn he looks at, and it gets ALL this STUPID spyware on my computer, and now i have the stupid toolbar and the stupid casino icons on my desktop that are n-non-deletable and the stupid pop-ups that previously were non-existant , and everytime i run ad-aware i got more and more tracking objects, BUT THEY ARE NOT GOING AWAY FOR GOOD.

Can anyone please help me?

I'm not sure if this will help, but you can try restoring your computer to an earlier date. I don't know if this will get rid of the files, but it may stop them from popping up.

You need to ask this on the MIT or Stanford threads......hehehee

Yeah that is exactly what I tried, restoring 2 days earlier, and now it's just worse, it changed my homepage, it's making everything much much slower and nothing is working to fix the problem. . . im really afraid im going to lose everything which is just making me so incredibly depressed and angry, i just dont know what to do. i keep doing ad-aware and NOTHING is working.

So you may have to clean it up and reload the software.........like many folks have done. But your brother may tweek you again.

hazmat i mean, what do you mean clean up?
HOW do i do that? it keeps getting worse, just 2 ****in days ago it was working fine and he uses it and i get all this crap.. and no he wont go on again, i'll make sure of that, he's lost his computer priveleges forever, he already got his damn CPU taken away, he's not using mine ANYMORE.

Yea...be sure to get your important files on a CD, then reboot the computer.

EDIT: Sarorah, I think hazmat means rebooting, and you can do this by loading a CD into your comp (the purple one you get when you bought your comp). If you lost it, then you can always order another one.

Wipe it clean........you maybe able to back up some files but you will need to begin again. That is just my opinion and I am not an expert.

Can you enter the registry and find any unknown programs by correlating the names with those in the Windows and Program Files folder? If you delete some of the keys, the programs can't work.
You might also try going to the folder 'Downloaded Program Files' in C:\Windows and deleting the programs that appear there (possibly dialers and tracking mechanisms.
And yes, if it fails, get as many important files off if they are not damaged...they may be by now if he has done too much with the spyware.

If your dad finds porn on the computer and has a choice between blaming a teenage boy or a teenage girl, the girl will probably not be his first thought.

Thanks guys for trying to help, but yeah I don't have that CD, and we had to do it before on a different computer and lost everythign, so if there are any other options, it'd be greatly appreciated because there's just so much on here, and trying to copy it all to a CD and then uploading it again later will take soo much time . . . BUT i guess i'll have to now, because restoring/ad-aware isnt working and i don't know how to do the registry thing.. . man this sucks soo much .. *** did i do to deserve this

a little box keeps popping up after an ad powered by "Zedo" saying that it will clean out the registry or something but i'm afraid it's a fake and i don't want to mess this up further

the thing is coureur, he is a rather impatient guy, and to see that he will lose his files too will make him take away this computer and the internet for both of us all together, no matter who screwed it up.

If that is how he is I would be inclined to log off and let the thing remain in its present state. When you dad, the impatient fellow w*****es that he cannot use it........tell him to drop it off at BestBuy w/ the GeeKSquad and let them do what they must. You can get off your stuff in preparation if you try now. You aren't the only household this has happened to.

Jokingly referring to guns or shooting someone is not funny in anyway. In fact, it is quite offensive.

^ In case you didn't pick it up, sarorah's remark was in no way meant for amusement. Why don't you try understanding his/her situation?

After uninstalling whatever you can from the control panel, try downloading the following: Spybot Search & Destroy, AdAware, Microsoft AntiSpyware, and CWShredder. Run all those programs and, with luck, your computer should be free from spy-/ad-/mal-ware. BTW, all those programs are free.

Download adaware, and stop being a brat. Try trendmicro housecleaner if that doesn't work. Put a password on your computer.

What antivirus software do you have? Get McAfee and Adaware, the latter which is free. Also, if you find suspicious looking processes when u ctrl-alt-del, type the exact name, including the .exe in yahoo or google and you should be able to find instructions on how to remove each.

If he wants to get pornography easily without viruses, tell him to download the application called Bit Torrent and to use www. empornium. us

Hey, that happened to me, too. Someone sent me a virus and I had a bunch of casinos, free PSPs, and dating icons & ads pop up. I restored it as well, but not two days before - more like two months before. When you restore, you have the option of restoring certain files. Do not restore the My Documents section (if you want to keep your files, that is). I think it's called Restore System Hardware, but I'm not sure.

I was in a similar situation at the beginning of this year. I had a brother who destroyed my laptop. Now I have to use the family PC. My laptop is recovering right now.

This is good advice. Also, download Spyware Blaster (free) and Spyware Guard (free), and also WinPatrol (free). If you don't have a firewall, get one (you can download ZoneAlarm firewall for free... it's reputable and has been featured in many PC magazines, like all these programs).
Download a program called HijackThis and run it. It gives you information/potential problems regarding the registry. Copy the results and post it on a forum like MajorGeeks.com (I think that was it)... people there will help you translate the results and tell you what changes to make to remove spyware.

Good luck, hope this helps.

i had a kind of different problem but it still had to do with viruses in that my computer was EXTREMELY slow. but i had 25gb of 33gb free. so i downloaded adaware and spybot and it kept saying "no viruses". but it was still very slow so i decided to buy "norton antivirus" from a computer store for about 25 $. the first time i did the virus scan ...243 viruses showed up!!! i did it again and less poped up but i noticed my computer was going MUCH faster. so my advice is get an antivirus software that u actually pay for cuz in my opinion they are much better. if that doesnt work then go to control panels and uninstall "web toolbars" etc... if that doesnt work then reformat ur computer.
