I am sorry to do this, but Chances? For EA to SFS

I know I am going to regret this, but here it goes:

White Jewish Female from Savannah, Georgia attending small private school. I am a senior.

Rank: School does not rank, but I am in the top 10% (the only reason why I know this is because I was inducted into the Cum Laude Society as a junior, which means that I am in the top 10%) I am ranked either anywhere from 5,6, or 7 in a class of 80

SATs: 720 CR/720 M/650 W
SAT IIs: US History: 740
Math IIC: 710
Bio-M: 610

GPA: 91 unweighted (colleges do their own weighting of grades, so there is not point in putting that down)

8 APs total, and they are not offered in freshman or sophomore years. No more than five APs are allowed in any one year, and only four APs are offered to Juniors.

Jr. APs: 4s on US History, Calculus AB, and English Language
Sr. APs: Calculus BC, Environmental Science, Government, English Lit, Spanish Lang

Only two honors classes are offered each year in math and science, which I have taken since freshman year.

ECs (in no particular order):
Girl Scouts: I have been involved since I was five. I have earned my Bronze and Silver Award.
Journalism: 3 years, and I have been Editor for the past two.
Amanuensis: staff of the literary magazine for 4 years
Crew (rowing): 3 years, varsity since freshman, boat was 2nd in region Freshman year.
National Honor Society: Inducted Junior year
Cum Laude Society: Inducted Junior year
Quiz Bowl: 3 yrs, Varsity for 2. Captain in Senior year. Soph yr- JV won 2nd at State. Jr year- Varsity won 2nd at State
Pillow Pals for Tots- a community service project that I organized in collaboration with the United Way where pillows are filled with baby food, toys, and toiletries to give to foster children when they are taken to a new home
Piano- I have been involved since I was 9. “Perfect Practice” Award. I know it sounds weird, but it is the runner-up award to “Student of the Year”.
World Quest/Council on World Affairs- 2 yrs. World Quest is a national competition held in Washington, D.C. Sr year- Vice President of the Council.
Students Advocating Living without Substance Abuse (SALSA)- Head for Two years, been a member for four.

Work experience: I worked on a film this summer entitled Molly and the Good Shepherd as an assistant director. I am originally from Los Angeles, and my whole family is in the film business (my father is a director and cinematographer and my mother is a stunt woman), so that is how I got the job.

Thanks and all feed back is appreciated!

um...I don't know what bump is for, but I assume it is to put a thread at the top of the thread list on a page, so...bump.

Your stats make you a pretty good candidate for Georgetown (SAT w/o Writing puts you slightly above Average, and Top 10% never hurts.) You got a nice selection of EC's. I'm going to say that your chances for Georgetown EA are somewhere between SlightReach/HighMatch

Good luck!

Thank you! Anybody else with constructive criticism? Also if I were to be deferred to RD, would I stand a chance to be accepted to SFS?

You should note that Georgetown only allows you to write down six activities, so a more accurate portrayal of your chances would be possible if you told us what you were writing there. Also, you didn't mention your essay topics, which are also fairly critical.

Georgetown completely ignores your writing score, which is good in your case. A 1440 V+M is solid. The requirements your school puts on classes are interesting, and should definitely be part of the counselor's letter. If she did that, then you shouldn't have any problem getting in at some point (EA or RD). Keep in mind that's a guess; without the other information I mentioned above, its a little harder to give you a straight answer.

I hope that helps.

Yes, all those requirements are mentioned by the counselor in the school profile. I do understand that only six are allowed (I have already applied). But there is the other section where you mark which activities you have done instead of listing them, which I was able to do and which encompassed the rest of my ec's. Thanks so much for you reply!

My personal essay topic was why I don't want to work in the film business (even though it doesn't sound like it, this was a VERY solid essay); my SFS essay was the pros and cons of having a foreign policy towards Israel as well as the affect (effect?) it would have on America today; and my short answer was about a summer piano program and the musical piece Danzas Argentinas by Alberto Ginastera and the impact that it had on my life (my counselor said that this last short answer was "perfectly me"). I hope that gives you what you need!

How would anyone rate my chances to SFS...

GPA: 4.0 equivalent (5.84 of a 5.9 weighted)
SATs: 2250 (CR 800, M 700, W 750)

Again, don't hijack other people's threads.

Thanks, Akajjred- I wanted to say something, but I didn't know if I should (or if I was allowed to). But you seem pretty knowledgeable about Gtown- what do you think about my stats?

Well you got some pretty awesome ECs, good grades, good SATs, good rank. I don't see anything that will keep you out, but there isn't anything that REALLY stands out either. I'm doing this all for the first time too, so I really can't say for sure. You definitely have a very good chance.

Man, and your from Georgia!
(your stats are definately better, btw)

My stats only look better bc their longer. Trust me, numbers-wise, you are WAY better.

no no no, your SATs and SAT IIs are better than mine, not to mention awesome ECs, and you're from a less populated part of GA, so no matter what, you'll look way better because they are looking for people in more rural areas (I'm not saying Savannah is rural, but it's not as big at Atlanta)

No, no, no you're better...no, no, no you're better...chicks are too funny. jp, jp

Akajjred- you will stay on this board after you go to Gtown, won't you? I mean, I am graduating the same year as you, but you have still been a tremendous resource, which is weird, because you don't even go to Gtown. I bet that once you go to Gtown you will be all the more of a resource because you will have the inside scoop.

And we aren't that funny.

I agree with AudraLaudarque, we're both being quite serious!
And you have been a great resource--you seem to know everything and thanks for the advice on stuff!
(AudraLaudarque--you're still better) lol

Lol, I certainly don't know everything. Thanks for the compliments tho. Yea, I guess I'll probably stay on this board in college, at least freshmen year, but not as often. I kno you guys were being serious, that's what makes it funny, girls r always complimenting each other 24/7, guys yea um no.

Ok well since that's all over...any constructive criticism about my stats?
