Schools:

UCLA, UC Berkeley, Brown (ED), Georgetown, Yale, Dartmouth, NYU Stern, USC

Additional question: I've been thinking of applying to Dartmouth early instead of Brown. Given my GPA, what are your thoughts?

I think that’s about it. I know I’m aiming high. :| This is a lot of copypaste, but I updated it a bit and I would be glad to get your replies! Thanks a lot, and leave a link to your thread in your comments so that I can chance you back!

Dartmouth and Brown are on par for difficulty of an ED admit so apply to whichever you like better. Frankly, neither has reason to accept you ED, they are in no danger of losing you to HYPS and you’re applying from an extremely crowded pool–Asian from CA. All you have is high scores yet much of your competition has the scores, GPA and ECs.

I’d seriously consider using the ED at a more realistic reach like Stern/Gtown/USC.

I think you have a good shot as any. really, GPAs are over hyped/meaningless at most schools as everyone in the top 10% has above a 3.9. Your test scores will show that you are more than smart enough.

good luck with brown :)

No. GPA/Rank/Rigor are by far the most important things to these schools.

BigMike3541 is mistaken; many people have better chances than this applicant because GPA is extremely important. Your UW GPA will you hurt you considerably.

Is USC really a reach, given that I’m in-state?

USC is not a state school and does not give preference to in state applicants. In fact, they want geographic diversity so you’d stand a better chance from any other state. That said, I think it’s a match.

I’d say you have a good to very good shot at UCLA + Berkeley, so if you are happy with those 2 schools, then I would totally recommend ED’ing to either brown or dartmouth (whichever you like better). You have a decent shot at Brown since you have great test scores. You’re only downs are your UW GPA + Asian, Cali status. Write a great essay!!

honest chance please

Apply ED to whichever school you prefer.

UCLA and UCB and USC are all pretty much yours

Yale, Dartmouth, and Brown might be more reaches (apply early to your favorite and hope for the best)

I don’t really know about the other 2.
