I Am Terrified

I Have Never Been More Scared In My Life

CORNELL, BC, LEHIGH - THOSE ARE MY DREAM SCHOOLS

Omg

What If It Doesn't Work Out And This Gets To My Parents???

They Will Kill Me!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE GOD JUST THIS ONE TIME!!!!!

lol 10char

LilWayneFan......I am in the same boat as you....especially if my dad finds out....he will disown me.

My parents don't care where I go...but somehow...I have that horrible sickening feeling I'm going to be that one person that doesn't get into any of her top choices and settles for her safety.

I feel sick, more than terrified...

"I have that horrible sickening feeling I'm going to be that one person that doesn't get into any of her top choices and settles for her safety."

i'm starting to have that same feeling... :(

I applied to like 7 reaches and 1 safety, hope it works out.

so... i got an OK head start on everything then went to just look over and submit everything.
then... everything went wrong.
i got confused with common app.
it was only giving me an option to apply early decision... which I am obviosuly not since the ED deadline is Dec 1...
turned out one of my selections on another page didn't get saved.
mind you each move from one page to another takes 5-10 minutes...
and sometimes more.
and i don't even know where to start to look
and all the while the clock is counting down.
THEN I get that figured out, and my signature won't go through because my date is "below the allowed date"
WHAT DOES THAT does that even MEAN!!!!
tuuuuurns out, I typed "01/01/07"
AAAGH
07!!!!

end of story?
01/02/08 submission date
thiiiiiis sucks.
Hopefully Boston University is very very kind to me:-/

BU would probably download your app; just in case, write them a comical essay about it lol

My parents would be ecstatic (maybe) to see that I didn't get into any of the schools I applied to (besides two).

As long as I got into UCI or UCLA, they will be happy because their precious little daughter worked her butt off to get rejected from her dream schools and live at home to attend one of those universities (though great, I'd rather get into Yale or Chicago)

LWF, I don't know a college in the country that begins reading applications at the stroke of midnight. It typically takes them several days to get all of the files organized. So, you are likely going to be ok. I would not, however, recommend living in terror. Call them first thing in the morning to verify that all will be ok. As a counselor who has helped hundreds of students through the admissions process, I have seen students miss getting many important parts of their application in on time -- transcripts, recommendations, test scores. In every case, when they called admissions, they were told that it would be OK as long as the missing pieces were sent as soon as possible. I generally recommend that you follow up the phone call with a snail mail letter reiterating what was discussed - don't write a comical letter - be mature and adult.

So, for tonight, don't let your mind well up with horror scenarios. Instead, get to bed and set your alarm so you can call first thing in the morning. Things will work out. Hang in there.

I applied to three reaches, two middle schools, and one safety. Then I applied to USC and I'm not sure whether it's reach or middle or a combo of both. xD But I would loooove to get into Stanford since it's my first choice or Yale. But if I can't get into either, I've love to go to Columbia. Those are my top three choices. However, if I can't get into any of those, I'll be disappointed. I wouldn't mind USC since I like the school a lot...but...still...it'll still hurt to not get into a dream school.

My parents are the same :( that and they don't want to spend the money.

I'd be disappointed if I didn't get into one of my top schools. =/ Because it'd seem like I've wasted my high school life working towards nothing... I think it'd make me a little bit bitter.

Go to the Talk to your kids! thread in the parents forum and try to determine where your family stands. Your family may be more terrified than you.

I wish you all the best. However, if you planned your applications properly with some reach, match and safeties....and the match and safeties are also schools that you can see yourself attending and being happy, then just relax. Also a lot of schools have 1/15 and 2/1 deadlines so its not too late to add a few if you are that nervous.

I can assure you, that come April 1 when you will find out where you got in, that you will focus on the schools that seem best for you (and you may want to visit one more time) and then you make your decision and never look back.

This is a difficult time for all families but you will get through it and it will all work out as it is supposed to be. You may not see that now, but it will.

And sometimes that match school is the best school.

It wouldn't be a waste because all of the hard work you've done in high school will help with your college studies and future work habits, regardless of what school you go to

I know that, but I'd still feel that way because I worked extra hard to get into my dream school and it'll just be disappointing. Not getting into your first choice is always disappointing. =/

^unfortunately, for ivies, most people don't get into their top choice... So it's really not uncommon

Well, only two of my top choices are ivies. The other two aren't.
