I AM TESTLESS. help.

Okay so I procrastinate a lot.

I'm a junior, it's currently May, and I haven't taken ANYTHING. I haven't taken SAT I, or any SAT IIs. I suddenly realized that I have to take a lot of tests (hmm).

So I can still register for the June test late, and I have October if I want to do EA/ED. (I know November is an option, too, but I just really don't wanna go there).

So should I take SAT I in June and SAT IIs in October? Or vice versa?

Scenario one, reasoning/june, subject/oct: I won't be prepared for the reasoning and may not get the best score. plus I may not remember all my subject stuff in october. BUT taking reasoning early can help me in a bunch of ways (for Regular Decision and just gauging where I am, etc).

Scenario two, subject/june, reasoning/oct: I will be prepared for reasoning, definitely definitely. I will remember AP prep for the subject tests. but taking reasoning for the FIRST time as a senior is not good. Does it look bad if a senior takes SAT I for the first time? (let's say the score isn't horrible)

I absolutely know that I'm over-analyzing this. But I'm really stressed out and would like some help.

Thank you in advance. Really.

DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY scenario two.

You’re gonna want to get the best possible score on the SATI and lots of preparation will help you max that out. As long as you study a lot, the whole first-time-as-a-senior thing won’t come into play at all.

The AP’s will help you so much on the subject tests, depending on which ones you’re taking and how many you’re taking. Plus, I think 1 month is enough for 2 or 3 subject test preparation with some nice Barron’s books, but 1 month is NOT enough for the oh-so-important SATI.

I think you sort of answered your own question.

You said that in June you wouldn’t be ready for the SAT I but would be for the SAT II’s. So why would you do it vice versa? You would score worse on each one.

As well, even if you did OKAY on the SAT I if you took it in june, you KNOW that you could do better and score higher so you’re (probably?) going to retake it again. So, that was kind of a wasted test date–you could have gotten a good SAT II score under your belt!

(Except I’m a newbie when it comes to admissions so I’m not sure how taking the normal sat in october would play out with colleges)

Sign up for the June 13th ACT. I don’t know if late registration is closed yet. Get one under your belt. You may find the ACT as a better test for you.

^Very good idea. Take SAT IIs this June, take June ACT. Then maybe you won’t even need SAT I in October.

I only problem I had with scenario two was that maybe… taking the SAT I (for crying out loud) before senior year might be beneficial (like for practice, test run, exposure kind of thing). but I guess because of my predicament, I really don’t have a right to worry about that kind of beneficialness.

and, ACT?? Oh, man… really? Another thing to think about!

Anyway, thanks a lot guys.

Don’ worry, you’ll do fine :)

You don’t have to take the ACTs, plenty of people don’t. But if you want to take the SAT I once before senior year in order to get the hang of it–all I can say is that’s what the big book of Princeton Review tests are for. The test room atmosphere doesn’t change that much–all you have to do is do practice tests following the exact official time restraints.

so you’ve done no practice for any of these tests? unless you’re in all GT and are naturally smart and be like some of my friends and score 750+ on each section with no practice you’re screwed
