I applied to 28 schools, 26 through Commonapp. Will colleges be able to find this out?

(When some of them asked me to list schools, I listed as many as I could fit, but not all of them. It's not my fault, but will it get me in trouble?)

I applied to them because the caliber of the schools makes it unlikely that I'll get in to most, but colleges factor in whether you will be likely to go to their school if accepted, so this will definitely be held against me if they find out.

I don't see how you could possibly get in trouble for not being able to fit all of the schools you're applying to. Even if colleges are able to find out how many you applied to (28 is a lot!), I don't see how it would be held against you.

hahh I did the same thing..but only 15, and none of mine asked me to list schools.
28 is just a lot because (28) x (app fee)_ is a lot of $$!
they prob wont penalize you..they just want to get a feel to what other schools you think you will be capable at

too bad its a double sword..like you could have put "applying to college" as a 12th grade EC or something..yeah the supplements I am sure were overwhelming.

haha ATLs09...would have defintely been a strong senior EC.

but my similar question is: some schools i applied to asked to list any other schools i was applyin to. my father recommended not to do this (the common app didnt mark it as a required field so leavin it blank was an option). after workin on the third supplement that asked this (GWU if i remember correctly) i felt like if they asked, ot responding might be considered impolite...so i listed some of the other schools i was applyin too (certainly didnt list GT thou).
does anybody know if not answerin these optional questions is disadvantageous?

I would presume if ANYthing, you would put similar colleges of size and pretiege because if some are large and some are small or some are less hard to get into, they will assume your acceptance is not vital. But blank...hah, that is certainly a vital case!
