I applied to College of Engineering...

On their site, it says that 2 SAT Subject tests are required for freshman admission. 1 Math and 1 science.

I only took 2 subject tests, both in math...

Do I kiss my hope of being admitted goodbye?

Also, can someone please explain this whole financial aid due on January 1? I'm so confused. I have to fill out the Cornell Freshman thing AND the CSS on collegeboard by 1/1?

Thank you for your help.

Yes, you will not be admitted to CoE. Do not even worry about the fin aid stuff. Your only hope to even have a chance is to take a science SAT II in January. Good luck!

yes you absolutely must have a test in both subjects. Chances are they will call you and tell you thi s(i know someone who was in your same position and this is what they did). Take the test in bio/chem/physics in january.

But on collegeboard, it says that the deadline to send in SAT scores is January 1st.

* SAT Reasoning/ACT score report due by: 01-JAN
* SAT Subject score report due by: 01-JAN

Wouldn't it be way too late to send it in?

call the admissions office, if they let you, I would either A) take a science test in january, or B) try to switch colleges

I called them already, they said that they're on break. =/

sign up for a science SAT II now. when you sign up, make sure you put Cornell as a recipient for your scores. then take the test, and have the scores sent to them. there's no need to rush report them. they will get them immediately because they will be sent online.

remember, you have to identify them as a recipient BEFORE and not after you take the test.

Since I applied to the college of engineering, I should take a Physics test right?

I haven't taken a Physics class since sophmore year and I don't remember a lot of material. On top of that, my teacher didn't really teach and all we did was watch movies...

Is it possible to do well on this test with only 1 month preparation?

And I'll call Cornell on the 5th to make sure that they do accept the January scores... Thanks for your help guys! :)

you can take chemistry or I think bio. The chem test is very easy if you have taken AP. The physics tests covers stuff that you probably have not learned in class, even if you have taken AP. I would advise you to take chemistry

true life:

i took physics and did not do stellar. esp considering how that one apparently has the most generous curve. my physics class is IB and so it doesnt match up to the sat/ap material. i basically look like an idiot bc i took 1.5 years of physics and could still not muster a 700 on the sat II. whatever.

My school didn't cover half the stuff on the SAT2 for Physics so I self-studied it for 2-3 weeks and mustered a 780 on it. You can do it. Good luck.

the physics test is not bad, buy the Princeton review book and know it inside and out and you will be fine

Take bio... it's the easiest science subject test IMO.

shalala: lol same thing happened to me >.>

I studied for a day using a prep. book and got an 800.

Not bad at all.

AP was a little diff. from the SAT

I called up Cornell today. They told me that same thing Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon told me. They'll accept the scores, but they can't guarantee that the scores will arrive before they review my application.

My son was admitted ED class of 2013. took Bio and Math I. Had good SAT's but certainly not at the upper end. I think the key is the right fit all around. Rigerous HS courses/great grades/essays/recommendations and activities that show an interest in Engineering.
