I.B.E. Program!?

So first of all Lehigh Universtiy is my first choice, and it is a target school for me (I am not applying to reach school like Cornell and Carnegie Mellon I did not like them very much, but I will apply EDI for Lehigh). Regardless I am wondering about the I.B.E program. When I visited the school and was on the Engineering Tour, the girls on the tour who were all in the I.B.E. program told me that they thought the program was selective, but mostly self-selective, and that they did not know anybody who was denied to the program. I myself I have not heard of someone getting denied from the program, is it as selective as Lehigh says or as the girls said? Thanks!!!

I was accepted to and attended an IBE information session, and I am planning on attending Lehigh University and enrolling in the IBE program.

In this information session, they listed the application numbers and acceptances for the IBE program. Now, in the first years of the program’s existence, aboiut 60-70 % of those who applied to the program were accepted.

Last year, I believe 20% of those who applied to the program were accepted. The average SAT of those accepted?

1470.

That is on par with the likes of many top tier schools, and they showed that if Lehigh’s IBE program were a university, it would be top 10 in SAT average.

Also, my roommate applied to IBE. He didn’t get in.

Also, I received a full tuition founder’s scholarship from Lehigh, and most IBE students are also merit scholarship recipients.

If you have any more questions, then let me know! I’d love to answer your questions via PM or via this thread.

Ok thank you so much!!! Its difficult because I come from one of the best public schools in the country (I am not trying to brag) and it makes the process tricky because people at my school get into school with lower grades than some others, and I don’t know my chances all that well.

Did the information session make it seem like SAT scores are a major factor? Or did they say it was holistic like the admissions process?

AGAIN THANKS!!! I really appreciate it!

It’s definitely a holistic process. Every college makes it a point that not one point in your application is stressed over another. Coming from a highly ranked public high school, you definitely have a leg up on some other kids that come from other high schools. Now, SAT and ACT scores are still very important, as are your grades.

I had no engineering classes. and one business class in high school, but I was accepted to the IBE program. Although I did have a very high ACT score. So it is definitely a holistic process, and it will definitely help if you apply early decision and if you make a campus visit. Also, make sure to make contact with your admissions counselor, but don’t ask a question that can easily be answered.

If you’re looking for me to chance you, I’d be more than willing if you post your stats.
