DO I EVEN HAVE A CHANCE FOR THESE SCHOOLS? SHOULD I EVEN APPLY FOR SOME OF THESE?

applying for:

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (in-state) [EA]

University of Michigan Ann-Arbor [EA]

Northwestern University [ED]

Lehigh University 7 year dental program with UPenn [ED]

University of Chicago [EA]

Cornell University [ED]

i’m not sure which one to ED. which one would i have the best chance in for majoring in biology?

ethnicity: Asian
school: very competitive public high school. sends MANY to ivy leagues, 2~3 a year to princeton/harvard
weighted GPA: 4.25
unweighted GPA: 3.6
Class rank: 13% (around 90 out of 700 something students)
ACT composite: 32
no SAT or SAT subject tests

AP Tests: Physics (4), Statistics (4), US History (2), European History (1) and will take AP Bio, AP Calc BC, AP Government, AP Economics, and AP Lit/Comp ap tests

question here: will my low AP test grade hurt my chances?

extracurricular: Math team (2,3,4), Service Over Self (3), Varsity Tennis (3), Yearbook Club (4)

volunteering: Local Community Hospital for a year

I think the AP score might not look that great...
I don't know what your major is... I'm going to say your best chance is at UIUC which is a great school but if your major is engineering it'll be significantly harder to get in. And beware cornell requires SAT 2 for some majors as does UC.

hi jliu
thanks!
i'm planning to major in BIOLOGY.
and i have been wondering whether to sign up for SAT2, because i don't know if i even have a chance at those schools (cornell, uc, etc..). i don't want to be wasting my money on sat II if i'm not going to apply

I think cornell uc and nw are reaches but I dont nkow much about lehigh except its a good private school. You've got a chance (match) at UM and UIUC i think. I would always have a backup to make sure unless you are in state at illinois that could be your safety i think.

i am actually in state in Illinois. so i could count UIUC as a safety?
that would be more than awesome, because UIUC is where i want to go the most. (best "value", i guess)
