ok so im considering top tier schools like northwestern and uchicago, along w/ accelerated medical programs..no ivies though. should i retake all these subjects? i feel like crying rite now...

chem= 760 <--i hope i don't have to retake this.
math 2= 690 <-- definitely retaking in octomber
us history = 730 <-- is it necesarry to retake? im not going near history in my future

ok well first of all you didnt bomb them. second of all northwestern and uchicago dont require subject tests. third of all i got a 670 on Bio and a 620 on Literature. I had previously gotten a 710 on literature. you should be feeling better than me :-(

I agree with briguy. You did not bomb them!
All your scores are higher than what I got and I’m applying to top-tier schools too.
I got:
Chem - 650 (studied my ass off w/ Barron’s and a bunch of stuff I didn’t have to know)
Math II - 650
US History - 580 (didn’t study)

are u guys gonna retake em? im not sure wat exactly is “good” for top-tier schools…seems like everyone on CC is 780+…northwestern hpme does require subjects…but i have no chance in that program anyway…haha…applying for the heck of it =P

You didn’t bomb them. Please don’t let this forum get you too down. Many people would kill for those scores (I could never in a million years get a 690 in Math IIC, so I envy you :P).

i do believe i will retake them. but i have kind of told myself i will not get into a top tier college. your scores are excellent! keep working hard!

Ohhh I’m definitely re-taking all of them. lol.
My #1 is NYU Stern which doesn’t require SAT II’s anyway, but I still want to do really good on Math II and send it in.
And Chem, I studied my ass off for. Hopefully if I study all summer I can get a 720+.
US History was no surprise to me. Actually I’m kind of surprise I even got as high as a 580.

I just suck at SAT’s in general. I got an 1840 on the Reasoning Test. I wish there were ACT subject tests. I got a 28 on that.

u guys are really sweet! it makes me feel better…so i don’t think im gonna retake sat chem…retaking math…history…im not too sure. i want these subject tests to help me somewat in the admissions process even though they arent’ required.

@hardworker
NYU in general doesn’t require Subject Test unless you send in the SAT. It’s a new thing starting w/ the HS Class of 2010 applicants.
The give the option of sending in:
the ACT w/ Writing
SAT Reasoning w/ 2 Subject Tests
SAT Reasoning w/ 2 AP’s
3 SAT Subject test
or 3 AP’s

will my 700+ scores help me in the admissions process? that’s wat im most worried about…will it look somewat good…atleast for the colleges that look at em…like for the act 30+ looks nice…i wonder wat it is for subject tests for top tier schools.

I took the same tests Don’t worry, your scores are NOT horrible; for non-Ivy schools they are within competitive range. My scores are close to yours but slightly higher (Chem 770, Math IIc 730, USHist 770)
