I can get into UGA & GA Tech?

<p>Greeting Friends!
My name is Rich. I am currently a senior. Recently I submitted my applications to UGA and Tech ( both regular decisions). The reason for doing regular is that I do not have a high SAT Scores. ( I moved from taipei to usa 5 years ago). My SAT: 520(writing) , 660 ( math) , 500(reading). ( 1680 composite).
GPA: for tech: 3.82 (weighted) for uga 3.62(weighted).
I took total of 8 AP Classes</p>

<p>Honors/Awards:</p>

<p>Georgia Educational Technology Fair:
10th Grade: I competed in Project Programming. The program I created was a web browser. I won first place at regional and third place at
State.</p>

<p>Clean Air Campaign
In AP Environmental Science (APES) Class, we created a clean air campaign. We organized different events, such as Quiz Bowl, Food Day and
Carpool Friends. Through our effort we have gained popular awareness and participation of our air pollution project.
Our APES Class won 1st Place in Atlanta.</p>

<p>Georgia Tech Alice Competition & AP Quiz Bowl
I created a 2-minute animation using the program called Alice. I won first place at the conference sponsored by Georgia Tech.
I was recommended by my AP Computer Science teacher to attend GA Tech AP Computer Science Quiz Bowl and won a prize.</p>

<p>Future Business Leaders of America Competition:
I took Introduction to Technology Concepts Tests for FBLA and was placed 6th at regional.
FBLA Desktop Application Programming: Won 5th place at the State Conference.</p>

<p>Then, for clubs:</p>

<p>Key Club
Key Club for four years. I participated events such as AIDS Walk, Hands on Northview, Trick or Treat Coin Drive, Adopt a Road, Clothing Drive
and Kids Fun Fishing Events.
As a treasurer, I acquired needed operation resources, raised necessary funds through donations, and ensured expenses were within budgets.</p>

<p>Programming Club
I had the opportunity to learn Visual Basics and Java from the previous club President who is an honor student at UGA now. I developed a
Web Browser which has over 6000 users. As a current President I shared my programming knowledge to club members which has grown from
10 to 28 members.</p>

<p>Future Business Leaders of America
Completed 6 hours of service every semester. Went to Heart Walk, Pumpkin Festivals and Penny Wars. I competed in Intro to Tech, Business
Math, Desktop Application Programming and Web Design. Entered local and state conferences and achieved BAA Awards.</p>

<p>Chinese Club
I introduced the culture of Taiwan, compared the differences of Chinese culture in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mainland China. As Vice
President of the club, I planned cultural festival events, introduced various authentic cuisines and snacks.</p>

<p>Web Team
I updated, modified and maintained our Northview High School and Counseling Websites. I designed graphics, updated events and records
and managed Parent Resources. I learned how thoughts and ideas are to be presented in a professional and timely manner.</p>

<p>I know I can def going to Georgia State, but I my dream college is Tech, then if Tech dont want me then I want UGA. So just wondering, what do you guys thing about my chances? </p>

<p>Thanks all for reading!
Best Regard</p>

<p>Richard Wang</p>

<p>I think both are low reaches (mainly cause of your test score).</p>

<p>If you can still edit your post, delete your name and high school (for security reasons).</p>

<p>(PS I’m just down the road :D)</p>

<p>anyone else?</p>

<p>What did you apply as? Aerospace Engineering? Bio?</p>

<p>Georgia Tech is a high reach, but I think you could possibly get into UGA</p>

<p>For Tech, I put:
Computer Science
for UGA i put:
Accounting</p>

<p>High reach for tech? but their min SAT is 2000…</p>

<p>Honestly I think you should be fine for UGA but not GT. I graduated from a high school in Atlanta and the number of people they take at UGA is very high, especially people with a GPA like yours.</p>

<p>Yeah engineering at GT is pretty intense. Of all my friends only the ones with high 2100s and above applied. Ofc they also had countless ap’s ecs and stellar gpas etc. etc.</p>

<p>Okay, so RD for UGA should be fine, but then for tech is a far reach.
Okay!</p>

<p>lol. honestly i want more opinions. SInce my friends told me my SAT scores are way too low for Tech and UGA. so basically I am going to State no matter what. That really got me worried…</p>

<p>Anybody else?</p>

<p>Your test scores are killing you
Georgia Tech: Reach
UGA: High Match/Low Reach</p>

<p>Chance back?
<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1598091-chances-upenn-ed-mit-ea-cornell-will-chance-back.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1598091-chances-upenn-ed-mit-ea-cornell-will-chance-back.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>Agreed, your test scores are ruining an otherwise great application… Have you considered signing up late for the January SAT? I’m not sure if GA Tech and UGA consider them, but most schools do. Your chances would spike if you got at least 2000+ And with your GPA and awards, that really doesn’t seem like a big problem… Are you sure that 1680 wasn’t just a bad day?</p>

<p>I took the SAT two times. First was 1550 then 1680. However, I took the Dec ACT. results arent back yet.
I dont think I can take the SAT again because of the time.</p>

<p>so no chance for UGA and Tech with my freakin low SAT score? gg</p>
