I can NOT decide between 12 schools!

I applied to 12 schools and have gotten in to most of them so far. I was wondering which one looks like the best school. I am still waiting on decisions from:
Colgate
Rochester
Northwestern

I have been admitted into:
Bowling Green State University
DePaul University
University of Cincinnati
Michigan State University
Denison University
University of Minnesota
University of Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania State University, penn st.
New York University, NYU

Now i do have a preference towards NYU, but the amount of money they will give me is not really enough. Also If I were accepted into Northwestern I would probably want to go there. So out of the 10 other schools which one should I go to, I have no preference and I need help deciding.

I’m from central ohio if that means anything

Northwestern would probably end up costing similarly to NYU, just to put that out there.

As for giving you advice on which ones to consider, you might want to mention things like the career or major you’re planning on so people can tell you about the relative strengths of each school.

IMHO, if you get into the pending schools your top four (in order of preference) should be: Northwestern, NYU, Rochester, and Colgate.

yeah but all of those schools are expensive, I don’t know if I can afford it.

I want to go into English.

Northwestern meets 100% of need. NYU does not.

If you’ll need financial aid, then the OOS publics like Mich St and Penn St won’t work. They aren’t going to give you the aid you’d need to cover their high OOS costs.

Which school is your financial safety?

How much can your parents contribute? What is your EFC?

I think some of your schools may get eliminated based on lack of affordability.

my parents can contribute like 80k to my education
cincinnati is a financial safety but it wasn’t my favorite.

So,

Your parents can contribute about $20k per year towards your education. That’s fine as long as their EFC is not higher than that. What did FAFSA say their EFC is?

Well, Penn St and Mich St are likely out since they will cost $39-40k per year, and they don’t give aid to OOS students.

Did UPitt give you a scholarship?

Do you know what your EFC is?

I know what type of situation your in be ause if I myself was admitted into all the schools I ve applied to I would have no ideal on which school to choose. I think the main factor to look at is which is more affordable and by how much. After looking into the universities also consider its location and what it as to offer, if you lack a vehicle also consider transportation cost.

Minnesota would be great if u can handle the weather. They didn’t get Al Gore’s memo on global warming up there.

Obviously your decision depends somewhat on what you are offered for financial aid.

But could you get any more different than Colgate vs. NYU? What if you get basically the same package from each school? Which one would you prefer?

Obviously, some of the schools you mentioned are a city school experience and others a campus school experience. What would you prefer?

Depending on your preferences, I agree w/ above. The best schools are Northwestern, Colgate, NYU and Rochester.

OP, use “among” to refer to more than 2 objects. examples: among the 3 of us. Among Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
use “between” to refer to two objects. example, between the you and me. between Stanford and Berkeley.
but this is a common mistake in english grammar. hehehe

anyway, of all the schools that admitted you, NYU and DePaul are the strongest. but that is just my personal opinion.
If Northwestern will accept you, NU will be the strongest school in your list, based on reputation.

Pitt stands out on that list if NYU and Northwestern are not options. Oh, and Penn State too

@amon_13- How did you get accepted at Denison University? They will release RD notifications on the 1st of April.

The big out-of-state publics will likely not give you good financial aid. However, if you have gotten into NYU I’m guessing you have pretty good grades/test scores? If that is case, you are eligible for lots of merit aid at Michigan State and Minnesota at least (and most other out-of-state publics).

Why not University of Michigan? It’d be among the best schools on your list and people like it a LOT more than Northwestern. Many people transfer from Northwestern to Michigan for a better experience with similar academics.

UMich is too expensive for an OOS student, and money is an issue for amon_13.

Have you been awarded any merit scholarships for any schools?

I think you should look up the amount of money it would cost to attend each institution (for 4 years), subtract it by 80k and the financial aid that you have received from that institution or the scholarships you think you can get (keep in mind that not all scholarships are renewable for 4 years), and come out with the amount of debt that you would need to take on in order to attend that institution. Don’t factor in work-study and such, because you still need living expenses and the cost of housing/tuition is constantly rising. Make a list, put down all the debt amount, and it would make your best options much clearer. Posting the list on here will probably get you better advice too.

I’m partial to Colgate myself. I think you’re going to have to make this decision largely based on finances.
