I do not know what I want to do for the rest of my life. Right now I am a senior in high school and am trying to figure out what major track I should be on. I have narrowed down my options to do engineering or medicine. The problem is that I do not know which one would fit me. The reason that I picked engineering is because I really liked the idea of learning higher levels of math (cal2, cal3, differential equations) and science. But, I don’t know if I would really like engineering because I still do not have a real idea on what engineers do except mass productions and improving efficiency. The medicine track sounds appealing because of helping people, high pay, and I might be able to play music during college. If I were to be an engineering major, I would not have any time to play music in college because of the workload. The downside is that I do not like the idea of studying 11+ years and I am worried about if I can pass the MCAT. I don’t mind studying that long. Its just that I would prefer to study for a less amount of time; Like an engineer is about 6 years, with masters. The last thing I would like to mention is that if I were to study to be an engineer for about 6 years, a dentist takes about 8 years and makes about 60-70k more than an entry level engineer…engineers at most will make a mean salary of 98,000 after being a senior engineer, which who knows how long that could take…
Thank you.
