I cannot decide usc or berkeley!!!

@ Clear my mind

I’m asian, tall and sexy

I also enjoy long walks on the beach.

lmao so funny! squadas are u set on USC for fall 09?

Squadus, that is too much information lol.

Do you live close to LA? From your previous comments, I sense that you comes from a large caucasian population.

facebook or myspace

I really don’t understand why you’re so concerned with race? I doubt many people at USC really care. Also, there are tons of asian people on campus at USC.

Were you accepted to Viterbi for Industrial Engineering? What is 'Operations Research"?
There are many options at Viterbi. There are plenty of minors to study. There are Asians at Viterbi. In fact, there are Asians who speak Chinese at USC so if you happen to speak Chinese, this accomplishment will add to the number of new international friends from Asia. If you choose USC, I think you will meet many kinds of students from around the world. If you are more comfortable at Berkeley, then go there. Perhaps you should visit both schools again before deciding. And be sure to take the tour of Viterbi which is a real winning tour.

You have the impression that SC is mainly Caucasian. According to the last data I saw the student body is one of the most diverse in the country. It is LESS than 50% caucasian.
In your comparison you visited one campus for three days where you already had many friends to a short campus visit where everyone was a stranger.
Cal will not be immune to the budget cuts by the state of California. The student faculty ratio at SC is much better than Cal 9/1 vs. 15/1. In faculty resources SC is ranked higher than Cal by 8 points. SC’s alumni giving rate far surpasses Cal’s as does the alumni average giving rate.
What program accepted you at SC? It would help us to know what is your field of interest in Viterbi.

I am very interested in Business and Engineering. Operations Research is sort of the combination of both.

It sounds like you are concerned with academic and social fit. Cal has large classes and probably more kids familiar to you (i.e. high school friends, etc.). USC has smaller classes and a very diverse student body. I suggest you spend more time at USC and really get to know what makes Viterbi special and then you will be able to decide. One thing you did not mention is that CAL has a reputation of being very liberal, very competitive, and academically intense. Go where the fit feels best to you.

um so…
berkeley in the fall,
usc in the spring…

you should start at berkeley in the fall and (maybe) matriculate to usc in the spring…that way you wont regret your decision.

u cant do that… Uchopeful73

^ i pretty sure, but can else someone confirm this? (u might lose some deposit $$$, and im not sure about housing…)

just make sure u check with usc to be sure if classes transfer over…

I have kids at Cal and USC. One has attended both. You cannot go wrong socially at either school if you are friendly. Both have nice campuses and both are in urban areas, but USC’s safe perimeter is not as large as Cal’s. Both schools are ranked in the top 30 so USC is not that far down from Berkeley. You should go back to USC and sit in on some lower division classes or make an appointment with a professor or Dean to discuss your concerns about how much involvement you are likely to have with your professors. After watching many kids in college, including my own at Cal and USC, I honestly think the level of professor-student contact depends on the individual student more than any other factor. As for trying one out before the spring admit begins, I think there may be a clause in the spring admission that prohibits enrollment at another four-year school during that fall semester. Double check on that. Good luck to you. Wherever you end up, you will be at a great school. Pick the one you like!

thank you so much bessie

I’m a short skinny asian myself (but I’m a girl so its alright lol) and I see short skinny asian guys all over the place… go around to the engineering buildling ROFL jkjk.
but really, don’t worry about stuff like that, you’ll fit in with your group of people sooner or later. :)
