Im a junior and I've had my eye on joining the FBI for the longest time. I plan on getting an accounting degree(150 hrs) and becoming a CPA to join. The FBI generally hires graduates from decently reputable schools, however in West Virginia we really dont have a option. My goal ACT is a 28, and GPA is 3.4(poor freshman year) so I know I wont get any scholarships. I really want to attend either Syracuse or Miami(OH), but the cost is outrageous as my parents wont pay any to help me go through college. Either I get in a good school and have a better chance at FBI, or I get in WVU which is okay, and I have a lower chance. What can I do to help me afford a better school or make a degree at WVU look good enough to get me in FBI? Thanks!

Dont be silly, WVU is fine for your goals. There is nothing magical about an acctg degree from another school. isnt a complicated major

^ I agree with @mom2collegekids

I agree also. Get your degree. Pass the CPA exam. Go from there.

Get really good grades, join some clubs, take on a few leadership positions, take a job, take a few related classes, all these things would help.

I just wanted to pipe in that my D started junior year with a 3.4 uw, 3.5 w. She had a really terrible sophomore year in a terrible high school situation. We moved her. She put in the work and by end of 1st semester Senior year, she had a 3.8 uw and a weighted 4.3. She wrote a great essay about what she learned about herself Sophomore year and what she did to turn things around. She got into several “highly selective” schools and got large merit scholarship at several, good but not so selective schools. Don’t give up hope. Just work hard. Get good grades and some leadership.

It’s less about where you go and more about how you do there. If you go to a solid public (and I’m sure WVU is a solid public) and get good grades, get involved in appropriate activities and make yourself and interesting candidate you’ll do great.
