However, it seems like as a rising senior, college anxiety has taken its full effect on me. I have this recurring nightmare where I get repeatedly rejected by colleges all in one afternoon and uh.. yeah. it's not fun. So, hopefully this will ease my anxiety (or else worsen it and make me consider some colleges that are more of a match).

Assuming that I have decent reccs and essays, what chances would I have at
-Boston U
-NYU (and if I do have a chance at all, should I go for Steinhardt for com or Stern for marketing?)
-Syracuse
-U Michigan Ann Arbor
-U Wisconsin Madison

I'm also a first generation student, I don't know if that works for or against or at all. I would like to go into marketing, advertising, & of the likes of such.

i don’t think you’ll have too much of a problem at any of the schools you listed, especially if you write good essays; also: do stern for business: top 5 undergrad business school!

I took the SAT and got a measly 1860. In another thread people told me to just submit the ACT and not submit the bad one. That 31 is the best standardized score I have unfortunately.

I got 4s on world history, US history, and lang & comp. But supposedly it doesn’t factor into admissions that much ? That seems to be the popular opinion.

Edit: I’m also nervous about applying to Stern because I don’t want to get rejected lol. Rejection is less likely at Steinhardt and I feel like mcc would be a decent major in a huge city like NYC.

id say you are good for pretty much all of them. NYU probably has the hardest admissions out of the schools you listed and at the highest it would be is a low reach if you go for Stern. But keep in mind those public schools you listed if you are out of state they probably wont give u much aid to cover OOS tuition so keep that in my if money is an issue. Good luck!

Wow I’m actually thrilled to hear that Stern could be a low reach! My parents and I were thinking it was out of the question… I think if I can get my GPA/class rank up this last senior term before apps I’ll definitely go for it. (Class rank will be tricky but here’s to hoping that some kids fall prey to senior slide lol)

What about George Washington U? I forgot to include it into my list but it is one that I’m strongly considering as well.

Oh I also have an upward trend in GPAs but I don’t think it matters. Grades are what they are. My overall junior year GPA was a 4.2 (which i’ve been told will help me because junior year matters the most).

-Boston U - IN for sure!
-NYU (and if I do have a chance at all, should I go for Steinhardt for com or Stern for marketing?) - If you bring your ACT to a 34, then you might have a chance for Stern, but for Steinhardt, i’d say you are a match for this school.
-Syracuse - IN
-U Michigan Ann Arbor - Match
-U Wisconsin Madison - Match (i’d be careful of this school; they are sometimes unpredictable)

EDIT: George Washington looks good but the valedictorian, who got into Berkeley, Georgetown, Penn, got rejected here!

Looks like I’m going to hit the test books Does a 31 make me impossible? It’s stupid science, it drags my whole score down. Has anyone ever heard of a transfer into Stern? I mean, communications and marketing are related but I feel like a degree in something business-related would be a lot more marketable.

The downside is that all these schools are very expensive (and some are bad with financial aid… i’m lookin’ at you, NYU) and unfortunately I will be applying for financial aid.

Does anyone have any suggestions for reach schools besides NYU that are good in marketing/advertising/communications and such?

Thanks, i’m considering USC and Northwestern (but i highllyyy doubt i’d get in lol). but then i’d be applying to 9-10 colleges total. How many is too much?
