You know, I've been DYING to go to USC ever since 9th grade. I was, reluctantly, rejected from USC (but I am appealing). Not to be insulting towards everyone on this board, but if you were accepted at USC and denied your acceptance, shame on you. USC is an incredible school and to waste your time with an application, and not go to USC, honestly ruins other people's chances of getting in. Thanks a lot.

How ignorant of you to say that one's rejection of admission actually reflects, to the slightest degree, upon another candidate's admission. My acceptance has absolutely NO bearning on your rejection.

I should have been more specific. What I meant is, if you applied to USC and were accepted, but realized afterwards it was too expensive and deny your acceptance, that is completely unfair for others who wanted to attend and can afford it. Why apply at all if you won't go there? Or then there are the people who apply, and get in just for kicks. BTW, I'm not being ignorant, you just can't see what I am talking about since you got in.

"but realized afterwards it was too expensive and deny your acceptance"

Well, the issue there is that not everyone knows if it's too expensive or not until they get their financial aid and/or scholarships...and you have to apply and be accepted to get those and find out. We thought USC would probably be too expensive but decided to try anyway to see what happened, and were pleasantly surprised. It could have gone the other way, though, especially if they hadn't kicked in a small scholarship along with the need-based aid.

I'm very sorry you were disappointed and hope things will work out for you for the best.

Actually, the school accepts a certain amount of students EXPECTING a (very predictable) number of them to not matriculate... Im sorry that you were not accepted, but it is not the fault of the other students. USC is a competitive school ("Top 30"), and not easy to get in to anymore. Good luck, Im sure youll be fine at whatever school you attend - you can even try to apply to USC as a transfer...

First off, how is my acceptance unfair to those who want to attend? I don't see any correlation. Secondly, many people apply to USC as a "backup" or "safety" school. You have to explore all options and nobody can be certain where they will be accepted/denied during the application process. If I never intended to attend USC but was accepted there and denied by all my other schools, why shouldn't I attend? Realistically, it's the only choice left. As to those who just apply for 'kicks', it's only natural and the admissions staff can never truly determine who is genuinely interested in attending.

Well, alot of people applied to whole bunch of places this year... most people first send in the application and she what happens... I mean i applied to NYU but it was much later that i found out about their fin aid problems (i didn't make it but...)

Sorry that I was accepted and not going and you weren't, but there is no need to be bitter. I mean, obviously you weren't meant to go there and wherever you end up shouldn't be too bad. USC isn't everything...an education is an education.

i'm sorry you didn't get into USC. i hope your appeals process goes well and you secure a spot for the fall/spring. if not, there's always hope as a transfer. it was a tough year of admissions for everyone...so many kids are applying to collleges at the same time that many qualified applicants are being rejected simply because there are too many kids and the university/college doesn't have enough spots.
don't let rejection get you down because i'm sure you have several/many other choices to choose from.

gaucho8 and dragon17: just let him vent... he has a reason to be frustrated, and you don't. so be thankful for what YOU'VE got, regardless of if you plan to matriculate at USC or not, and just leave it at that. yahuuurd????

brassman: best of luck to you, wherever you end up!

^True, so true.

i'd be just as p-oed if i didnt get in...usc has been my #1 choice school like forever. i just got lucky and got in, but i completely understand why its hard to see other people seem to take their admission to your dream school lightly, when it meant so much to you and you didnt get in.

"if you applied to USC and were accepted, but realized afterwards it was too expensive and deny your acceptance, that is completely unfair for others who wanted to attend and can afford it."?

Sorry your folks didn't donate enough money to USC to guarentee your admission.

Besides, I didn't get into Harvard, and you don't see me crying about it.

But to be honest, I was watching a football game last fall and thought, "Maybe I should look at USC," and what do you know, it worked.

^ LOL i haven't heard about USC until October~november ish and that's when I thought about applying.. (my parents advised me to apply (from another person who told them about USC)) Now its my favorite university and I'm damn proud of it. ^_^

oh and CubsRule, the record will show its the White Sox that rule

Booo!!! Screw The White Sox!!!!

Yeah, and thats what Ryan Leaf says about Peyton Manning

Besides, at least the Cubs will never throw the World Series because they won't ever get that far.

"Why apply at all if you won't go there? Or then there are the people who apply, and get in just for kicks."

Umm buddy I can appreciate that you are ****ed and i'm sorry but honestly you need to chill. I dunno where your from but nobody spends time and money on an application for "kicks." Applications were the worst months in recent memory and for anyone to do applications for fun is absurd. If someone applied to USC it is because they might go there, even if it is there 10th backup school, there is still a chance, and there is no fault in people being safe and smart. But for real i'm sorry man just redirect this anger somewhere else cause your not thinking this through.

you can't say p i s s e d on here?
