On one hand, I'm getting GREAT tips on College Admissions and the College Process. Also, what schools to check out, etc...

On the other hand, this site is making me increasingly more and more obsessed to college admissions. And seeing how my stats compare to some other's is scary....but I guess CC users are the mostly the cream of the crop of admissions, so maybe I shouldn't worry too much.

An average student at CC: has an A+ average in over 10 APs, 2400 SAT, 1000+ Community Service Hours, is president of like 10 Clubs at his/her HS, and is personally helping a third world country revolt against tyranny.

Ironically though, the one thing I never see on CC is someone who is good enough at a sport to be able to play in college. There must be a different website for that.

Those people generally get help from the coaches, not from online message boards =

I was blessed to not discover CC until AFTER April 1 of S's senior year. I still haven't decided whether I love or hate the friend (former friend? JK) who told me about it.

Knowing me, I would have driven myself and my family insane during the college app process. For giggles, I checked the Duke "I'm in!" thread -- didn't know there were that many perfect and near-perfect SAT students in the country, much less at one school.

So all's well that ends well for us -- S is going to his #1 college choice, and I'm picking up lots of good tips for sending him out the door in September. And in my case, ignorance (about CC) was bliss.

It's helping. I WISH I'd known about this place before undergrad, and am eternally grateful for the source of information now that I'm looking at grad schools.

It's mostly helping me... except for making me worry about everything way more that I was, and the fact I spend time on here I could actually be studying/working on applications with...

ohh goodness... I don't know if it is helping me or hurting me either. It certainly makes me obsessed. Actually it makes me worry less about some things, but only when that hurts me, because everyone says "oh multivariable calculus is soooo easy, no need to worry about that." ....and then I fail...

There have been a few recruited athletes posting here- a couple of runners, a couple of swimmers, a couple of tennis players- and a few parents with kids who are recruits. If you have questions about the process, there has been a lot of discussion on recruiting, likely letters and how much a coach can help with admissions.

I'm addicted, CC makes me feel better about the challenges ahead, because there are so many here who have 'been there, done that.' Not to mention, the advice is priceless, if you weren't on CC you would most likely pay big bucks for it elsewhere, so I'm thankful that I stumbled upon it.

Not gonna lie I'm another addict...even when I don't have any questions I just read everyone elses...I really should be out saving 3rd world countries like the other CCers...but I just can't leave! Lol jk sorta

Definitely agree with dally, being on a board like this feels so productive... I'm preparing for college... but it's just making me procrastinate on everything!
