Hello all,

I need help. I am in a pressing situation. I am going to into 4th year and am currently majoring in bioinformatics. Im unsure about its job prospect and so I'm thinking about switching. There's something about it that I dont enjoy too. Perhaps the computational part. The situation that i want to bring to you all is that I'm between accounting and biology. If say I do want to do accounting, I will graduate in my 5th year but the problem is this subject is completely foreign to me. If on the other hand, I go for biology I could finish it up also in my fifth year and then head into pharmacy school. The problem becomes money and a bad grade in one of the prerequisite classes. I will need to stay in school for almost 4 years before becoming an actual pharmacist. Which is the better plan for me? Any help is better than none

The computational and statistical parts of bioinformatics are likely the parts that are best for employability; biology graduates tend to have a rough time in the job market compared to computer science and statistics graduates.

Accounting isn’t as bad as many people make it out to be. The earning potential is definitely there, especially if you go towards the corporate side, rather than the Public side. Economics and Finance, also have very good earning potential, and despite the current recession, the banks are starting to hire again. The Pharmaceutical Market however is declining. With prohibitive costs and research being outsourced, the companies are making more money by selling less productive products, and there are also generic ripoffs. If I were you, I’d go towards Economics/Finance/Accounting. I’m actually a Econ/Finance major and loving it.
