I know someone with a 32Act, 3.8 GPA and a NMF who was waitlisted at Reed this past year--he is an exceptionally fine writer and had wonderful recommendations and EC's, so it might be a bit of a reach for you,but you never know just what they may be looking for. I know students at Oberlin and have always been very impressed with them--most importantly, they always seem very happy with where they are. I think that both schools are wonderful places to learn--I hope that schools such as these two are where the true leaders of tommorow are being educated--and I much prefer them over any of the Ivy leagues.

To add to your confusion - have you considered Bard or Wesleyan (CT)? They have some of the Reed atmosphere, with their own twist on intellectual/funky.
