I’m now a sophomore, will be junior next semester. I’m applying as an external transfer and I’m not sure what college to apply to. My major is Applied Economics and Management. I would like to transfer to Dyson but I know that Dyson is out of the question because they don’t like juniors in and their acceptance rate is generally extremely low. I also think that I didn’t fulfill one of the classes that I was required to take to be eligible to transfer so they could auto-reject me. Should I try transferring to CALS? Is CALS acceptance rate higher than CAS? I couldn’t find any classes that I’m required to take before transferring there. Is it a bad idea to transfer to CALS if I don’t really have any interest in agriculture and all my ECs are business related?
For what it is worth, the people that I know who are into Agricultural Sciences are really into Agricultural Sciences, with extensive experience in the area. If you don’t have any interest nor experience in agriculture then my guess is that admissions will figure this out rather quickly.
Where are you now, and why do you want to transfer?
CALS isn’t just agriculture, for the record. But I’m not sure there would be a major there that suits your interests. Aside from Dyson, you could apply to the economics department in CAS or if you’re more interested in the management/business side of things, you could try applying to the Hotel school. I suggest looking more into all of the programs and seeing which one best fits what you’ve been studying so far.
