<p>i got a d+ first semester of ap computer science first semester of my sophomore year. i am aiming for ivies and other top schools. i can't handle this class. will i be penalized for dropping it?</p>
<p>Yeah, you can’t just drop a class halfway through the year. Your school will most likely give you an F if you drop.</p>
<p>Talk to your counselor about dropping the class. Take another class that you like better, and are likely to perform better in second semester.</p>
<p>Whether any one college/university will see one Sophomore year D+ on a HS transcript and use that as the deciding factor in determining admission is something that none of us can predict. Especially if you have a very high GPA otherwise. So, stop worrying about that issue. It is out of your control. What is within your control is your future grades in your other courses.</p>
