So I guess I screwed up royally when I just realized I won't be able to take the TOEFL test in December. Yesterday there were still seats left, but today they were all gone. Next opportunity to take the test is January 15th.

Does this mean I am totally screwed or are most schools accepting if your essays are great and your SAT scores are decent? Does anyone have a piece of advice, or should I just give up what I’ve worked for the past months?

Doesn’t it take several weeks to get the scores anyway? What if I fly myself to a country close buy? There are still seats empty elsewhere… If that will help me, I will do it.

Thank you for your help omega007.

Interested in Bowdoin, NYU, Brown, Babson, Emroy, American…
SAT: 1620 (ugly score)
SAT II: 800/700 (better)
18.5/20 GPA
I am the founder and CEO of a successful company, which I have been running since I was 15. This is by far what makes me stand out. My business experience is second to none compared to other people my age.
I speak four languages fluently, and have lived in a as many countries over the years.

I might need a bit of financial aid, 10-15% maybe, but I could probably work that out…

Bilguun I thought the same thing haha.
MartinS, if you manage to raise your score on the SATI and if you have taken math II on the subject tests, you should definitely try for the Huntsman program, with the languages and the business you totally fit the profile. Penn accepts January scores.
The TOEFL can take from couple days to a week for delivery but its usually within three days, I know cause I was tracking how long it took to show up that the schools have received my scores on the portals and it was within two days.

Appreciate the answers. Just to be clear: if I take the test on the 19th I will be ok? It’s kind of weird to fly out of the country just to take a test, but luckily there was a flight at 6 AM… so I won’t have to stay overnight.

I must admit I don’t know half the stuff you guys know about the whole admission process. However, my college advisor wrote of UPenn, Northwestern and a bunch of schools due to my low SAT score (understandably), but left the schools named above on my list… (don’t ask me why). Do you guys think he is wrong? I better hope he know what he is doing since I pay him $190/hour (which is plain ridiculous).

Yes, considering your SAT score, what he did was quite reasonable, but Huntsman seems such a great match for you if it weren’t for the SAT.

considering your scores those schools are definitely a better match, but it doesn’t hurt to try, and if you manage to raise your SAT score than you’d definitely be a competitive applicant for Huntsman. What about your SAT II which subjects did you take? Cause they require one in your target language and one Math II, plus you have to write an extra essay on international issues of business. But if you ask me it’s totally worth the trouble, and if your score is the only thing stopping you, well… ;)

I haven’t taken any of the math Subject Test. If I retake the Reasoning Test in January, I won’t be abole to take the Subject Test, and they won’t even glimpse at my application, right?
