I can't visit before i apply...HELP

I was wondering if you guys can provide info about the campus and ann arbor life. Is the campus enclosed, how large is the campus. Is it like a campus where you have classes/dorms in the middle of other random non college buildings?? Please give me info

It's a huge school, and I heard there are tons of parties.

Although the campus is not enclosed, 99% of the buildings are within the campus limits and they are not mixed in with random non-university buildings. When you are on campus, you are ON campus!

The campus is quite nice (not gorgeous though) and the buildings can be impressive. In terms of size, the university is HUGE. 38,000+ students, 4,000+ professors, 300+ buildings and 3,200 acres.

The Ann Arbor campus is devided into 4 sub campuses, separated from each other by small parts of the city. Each campus is separate in function, so a student will usually not need to get around too much.

CENTRAL CAMPUS:
That's where the college of Literature, Science and the Arts is housed. So if you intend to major in anything from Anthropology to Psychology, 99% of your classes will be held in Central Campus. Central campus also houses the Business School, the Law School, the Dental School, the School of Social Work, the School of Education and several dorms, including Martha Cook (women's dorm), Hellen Newberry (women's dorm), Betsy Barbour (women's dorm), South and West quandrangles (coed dorms) and the residential college (East guandrangle).

MEDICAL CAMPUS & THE HILL:
The medical campus and Hill are connected to Central campus via a small bridge. The Medical Campus obviously houses Michigan's Medical school, Hospital, Medical Library, Nursing school and school of Public Health. The Hill is a collection of dorms (6 of them I belive) but also includes a bunch of outdoors tennis courts, a large recreation center and very nice arboretum.

NORTH CAMPUS:
North Campus is located roughly 3 miles away from central campus and about a mile and a half from the Medical campus. It is rather large (about 1,000 acres) and houses the schools of Engineering, Music and Architecture. It also has several dorms, including Bursley, Bates and family housing, as well as a large recreation facility, a media union and a student hangout building knows as the Commons.

ATHLETICS CAMPUS:
About 1 mile South of Central campus. The Michigan Stadium (largest football stadium in the nation), Chrysler Arena (Basketball), Yosty Arena (Hockey) and several other sports venues are all located in the Athletics campus.

But you really must visit to get a good idea of the university. It can be a pretty special place.

is the hockey arena open for figure skating? Are there figure skating classes to take as UMich? Thanks
