I Choose You, Chance-y!

^ My attempt at being punny and having a unique title for a chance thread.

Anyway, I just submitted my Common App for RPI today, so I wanted to see my chances of actually getting in. I have a great rec from my yearbook adviser (technically the teacher of the yearbook class). Going in undecided.

I know my GPA is a little on the low side and my SAT scores aren't great. But I just want to know my chances at RPI. I did focus my essay on leadership, specifically how losing an election and the events following that loss changed me as a leader.

Your rank is okayish, but your SAT Math might be a bit of an issue. Besides the management school (and I guess the exceedingly-small humanities/social sciences dept), the departments here are going to want students scoring at least in the high 600s in the SAT math.

Annoyingly, being Asian can’t help your chances. I don’t see why colleges care about race (there are better forms of affirmative action), but they do :|.

Thanks for the response!

I was actually looking at the EMAC Major, but my parents want me to go into Computer Science, which I’m okay at, but obviously I’m not great at the math aspect of it.

And yeah, I’m unaware of my unhelpful minority. I know colleges don’t work this way, but do you think being female may help in anyway? I know RPI’s a pretty male-dominated school.
