Post what schools you got into and if you want why you chose Georgetown

I'll go ahead and start

Accepted: University of Houston, Texas A&M, University of Texas @ Austin, Rice, Pomona, Tufts, Amherst, Boston College, Dartmouth

I chose Georgetown (SFS specifically) because simply put it's one of best (if not the best) school for what I want to do (International Relations) + its in what I discovered to be the great city that is Washington DC. Even though I didn't get the best FA from this school or its not the highest ranking on USNWR it's where I want to be next year.

Hahaha it makes me feel better about not getting into Brown because the kid on top got into brown which is a mile away from my house and chose georgetown over it haha halarious! Btw Brown was my first choice but I got denied and got into GTOWN
HOYA SAXA !

GTown is a much better school than rankings imply. And there’s also the question if you love your environment rather than just going to a place for the brand name…

Georgetown has clout where it really matters-the Situation room at the White House, Presidential residences and Parliaments throughout the world, Governors’s mansions, the caucus room of the US Senate, the Board room of the Federal Reserve, etc. rather than the waiting rooms of dentitst’s offices where magazines are read.

Hmm, I’m stuck in a situation that Stupefy sorta described…I can’t choose between Georgetown and Wellesley. I want to have some sort of major/minor/or double major combination that allows me to focus on one science and one non-science subject. I want to fulfill pre-med requirements. Does anyone have any info about how these two colleges compare academically (especially in the sciences), in the social atmosphere, in the opportunities during and after undergrad, in location, in professor quality, etc.?

To Stupefy: I’d be interested to hear what made you choose one school over the other! It might help me…so terribly confused =P

^ I would definitely go with Gtown over Wellesley, but it’s hard to compare the two. Georgetown is a university, whereas Wellesley is a liberal arts college (almost like comparing apples to oranges). Both are great schools academically but have very different social scenes, the primary difference being that Wellesley isn’t coeducational. If you’re looking for a more intimate, slightly removed setting where good rapports with professors are pretty important, then Wellesley may be for you. However, if you’re interested in a dynamic social scene in a lively city coupled with strong academics, then Gtown is your place. Your best bet is to pay each a visit!

Hi, I actually haven’t even made my decision yet
I’m stuck between Georgetown and Williams
I feel like I’d get a better quality education at Williams, considering the small classes, ridiculously accessible professors, and (generally) higher quality student body (in terms of academics)
However, Georgetown’s location can’t be beat. The town is beautiful and just a heartbeat away from downtown DC, where the action of the entire nation is taking place. Plus, the SFS program is great, the students are more active and sociable. I felt like I fit better at Georgetown

My S strongly considered Williams as well, for some of those same reasons. What he has found at Georgetown is 1.small classes. After his freshman year, his classes got very small. Last semester, as a senior, he had classes with 25, 11, 8, and 4 students. 2. accessible professors. and 3. some of the smartest peers he’s ever encountered. These are kid who have turned down some very high ranking schools (i.e. Harvard) to be in Washington.Remember, like attracts like.

If you have been admitted to SFS, there is no similar program at Williams. SFS is a very unique, challenging, and generally awesome experience.
