Ok, so I was kinda bored and saw this on Berkeley's link, so thought I'd put one up here. Enjoy!

I got accepted to Michigan with a big scholarship so early that I didn't bother applying anywhere else, really. I had just gotten into my safety, U of Minnesota, but I had apps for UPenn, WashU, U of Wisconsin, and BU that I never bothered sending out.

Son chose Michigan over U of Illinois and Purdue, although there was never any doubt!

Son chose over Wash U StL and NYU

chose it over nyu, usc, ucsd, uc irvine, ucsb, uwash, and fordham.

chose michigan over nyu stern, bc, carnegie mellon, uiuc business honors, georgiatech, rutgers (safety)

Chose Michigan over: UCLA, USC, Cal, Wash U StL, Tufts, UCSB, UW

I know I made the right choice!

UVA , Illinois , Indianna (Kelley DA and schol) , Purdue and Mcgill.

Lots of people turning down USC for Mich!

turned down UPenn Wharton, Wash U engineering, CMU Tepper/IS, USC for Ross..would have gone to cornell if i had gotten in ED tho..didnt happen -_-

Turned down central michigan and eastern michigan (only others I applied to, which made the choice easy). Not only is UM a better school, but I actually got a higher percentage of the COA in financial aid (the other two not only gapped me, but gave me quite a few loans).

It's ok Bearcats, I have attended both Cornell and Michigan and I can honestly say that Michigan provides a more complete undergraduate experience.

Bearcats, so you got into Wharton but not Cornell?

Choosing Cornell over Michigan's Ross is very questionable. The main quality of a business programs comes down to two things: the networking and the career opportunities. Ross is better than Cornell in both of these aspects by far, especially in terms of job offers. The lack of a centralized undergraduate business school really hurts Cornell.

However, Wharton over Ross is a shaky decision. In terms of demographics, Wharton's students generally have a stronger background (academically and otherwise) than the average Ross student. Of course, with the new Pre-Admit program, this will change. However, there is nevertheless a distinct contrast in the quality of the students between Ross and Wharton.

More importantly, however, the career center over at Wharton is better at attracting recruiters than Ross. This is the main aspect that uplifts Wharton as the premier b-school in the nation- by quite a large margin. Ross, Stern, Haas, Sloan, etc., are all around equal, but Wharton really has an edge in recruiting. Just as an example, Wharton graduates around 20-25 elite students per year who automatically work at private equity firms (such as Blackstone) out of college. In contrast, Ross graduates around 5 at most. Cornell grads going to private equity is simply unheard of.

Wharton also graduates many more people into better positions in IB and consulting, the two areas in business that pays the most.

Our school, however, is better than Penn in athletics and school spirit, if those two criteria take high priority for you.

Northwestern. eons ago for the Inteflex program.

Duke, Johns Hopkins (BME program), Penn State (full ride), UF (full ride)

NYU, ND, McGill, UT, UBC, UWO

Wow quite a few people turned down Washington U for UM, I will be attending UM and I love UM, but I thought Washington U was much more prestigious.

Also Bearcats I must say you have some serious balls ( in a good way of course)turning down Wharton for Ross I know I could never do that no matter how much I loved UM.

WUSTL is not more prestigious than Michigan. In fact, it is the other way around. When it comes to reputation, few people would say that WUSTL is better known than Michigan.

And although Wharton is more prestigious than Ross, it is only marginaly so. As far as the business world is concerned, among undergraduate Business schools, Wharton is #1 and Ross is anywhere between #2 and #4. If one prefers the atmoshpere at Ross more than the atmosphere at Wharton, it is worth chosing Ross.

WUSTL is basically known by the kind of people who spend lots of time on these forums because WUSTL works really hard to have a high USNWR undergrad ranking. Outside of CC, I've never heard them mentioned even once, and nobody I've talked to even knows who they are.

anyone who applied for college and had stats good enough to apply to the top 30 schools on US News, should know about them.

i have to say, i didnt hear about half those colleges until i was deciding on who to apply to. i actually didnt really hear about Michigan's reputation until then. it might be because im from LA, and UCLA and Cal is around the same caliber and would be MUCH cheaper to attend.
but interestingly enough, when people ask me where im going for college, they seem to know about its high regard. mostly older people tho.
