I chose Schreyer over __________.

just curious to see where everyone else turned down..

for me, i turned down carnegie mellon (because of their practically nonexistant financial aid) and university of pittsburgh honors program.

This will be an interesting thread. I want to see the responses. =].

cornell, duke, swarthmore, case, rpi, grinnell

UofMd (H), UofDel (H), RPI, Hofstra (H)

just in case someone doesn't know, there is a psu shc '11 facebook group where this exact question was asked.
http://psu.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2247866151

but I'll answer this question (psu shc '10): I chose the shc over duke, unc-chapel hill honors, pitt honors full ride, umd gemstone & honors.

I must admit those schreyer kids are highly bright and diligent. From experience, I can tell that they are very social and eloquent as well, which is surprising.

Take a look at this student's(www.personal.psu.edu/users/m/a/mal360) resume and notice how impressive it is in terms of raw academic accomplishment; I don't think the peer/class atmosphere will be any different than one at an ivy league or top school. If anything, the atmosphere will be more relaxed and easygoing but the students are equally or more intelligent and assiduous.

RPI, Drexel (Honors and BS/MD Accelerated Program), SJU (Honors), UDel (Honors)
