Why would anyone turn down Full F/A Yale over UNCCH, let alone Dartmouth and Williams?

Why would anyone turn down Full F/A Yale over UNCCH, let alone Dartmouth and Williams?

Because they reaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllly like basketball.

For special programs.
Not all Yale graduates will be awesome, must most Moreheads and Robertsons are

Culture. I would probably kill myself if I lived in the north.

full financial aid doesn’t necessarily equate a full ride (which i believe that poster received from UNC). also the atmosphere at carolina is VERY different from those of small, northern liberal arts colleges, and many people would prefer it! i thought i wanted to attend a school very similar to williams, but now that i’m at a great public school with boundless opportunities (both social and academic), i honestly couldn’t see myself anywhere else.

Why are some of you so enamored with the Morehead scholars? The way they are talked about in this thread it’s as if they are some elite breed of super genius’ or something.

Wow, could it be that they scholars treat their status as scholarship students as if it doesn’t really matter because maybe uh…it really doesn’t in the long run? Or am I just an a**hole for not being smitten by a group of smart students who don’t want to broadcast their elite scholarship to the world–something that any normally functioning person would do.

…So to get back on track, back in my day (like 2 years ago) I turned down Vanderbilt, Davidson, U of Richmond, Gettysburg College, U of Delaware, U of Georgia…and somewhere else but I can’t remember what it was.

Yeah, this got so off track…let’s go back.
I chose UNC over______

NYU stern! it was my dream school, but all my friends are going to Carolina and I have free tuition there

Michigan, Boston College, Wisconsin, and Oregon (honors with great aid). I haven’t regretted my decision for a minute.

Davidson, scholarships at Rice and Vanderbilt, Foundation Fellowship at UGA. Loving every minute at Chapel Hill.

USC (California)w/scholarship, NYU, UC (LA and Berkley), Vanderbilt(scholarship), Emory, Duke, and some more.

No regrets about being at Chapel Hill, even though I received no money and had to apply to get into the Honors Program last semester.

NCSSM?
