I was hoping to apply early action to MIT until I saw this:
"Please note that MIT's Early Action program is available only to citizens and permanent residents of the United States."
I am not a citizen, nor do I have a green card. Does this mean I can only apply to regular decision? Thank you in advance.

I believe that's exactly what it means. I'd start talking to your parents about residency though. Depending on how much time you have left, and how many of the qualifications you've met already, you might be able to become a permanent resident before you apply.

Unlessly you've already applied for residency, it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to get it before you apply. You have to wait at least a number of months (frequently more than a year) until your case is looked at. This is especially slow after Sep. 11.

That is correct: only US citizens or permanent residents with green cards can apply EA.

Tetrahedron is right. If you're looking to apply for the incoming class of 2006, you're almost certainly out of luck. I don't think it would take more than a year though, but at least nine months... in time for the inc. class of 2007, if you're a rising junior.

Good luck,
