I used Firefox. It's probably because I sent in my acceptance stuff last Wednesday. They likely haven't entered me in the system yet.

Jaybee9590 -- that must be it.... BAH! HURRY UP USNA! =P

About bras:
You don't need real bras over plebe summer. It's so hot humid that you'll just use the sports bras they give you and they give you plenty. They also absorb sweat better and real bras get uncomfortable. I have sooo many. Real bras are only useful once the ac-year starts.

Thanks JT! Good to know.

Just to clarify....JackTraveler says no calc and navy2010 says yes. Any reasons?

hmmm.....
for the class of 2010, the tests were not on-line; while a calculator was not "necessary," our son did use his.
if the tests are now on-line, this may account for the "no calculator" suggestion.
Would bring an old one down in case.

navy2010, thanks for the good info. I'm wondering about all the bras the females are supposed to purchase. Are these necessary or are they like the other things you said will be issued?
[/quote]
they will be issued. Obviously you will still have the "one" you wear down that day. What will get issued are athletic bras, which is what you will be wearing just about all plebe summer, give or take. My suggestion is to still "not to bring"..... have mom and dad pack one or two of your favorite brands and mail them down in a care package.

I think they're talking about the algebra tests they have to do online before reporting in. That's different from the calc validation exams they will all take over the summer...bring a calculator for those since the detailers will allow you to grab them to bring for use on the tests. They will also come in handy for chemistry, and if the situation arises, physics. So in short, bring a graphing calculator and put it in your backpack so you can retrieve it later...

Actually fiterace87, I think the Calculus Validation is online now as well....

Backpacks.....
just remembered something....

if you DO bring one (consider it unnecessary, but if you must)....
make it anything but black!!!..... you are going to have to fish it out from several hundred of them, so if you have to bring it, make sure you can find it!!!

Yea, the calc validation is online. There was nothing we needed for chem, as I said, I don't remember there being any calculation problems, but there may have been. We also didn't have a physics exam. That's one that you take if you want to validate you have to talk to the dept. head.

Great suggestion navy2010! I had forgotten about the backpack. You want to be sure that yours is easy to spot. Congrats Class of 2012!

Wow, didn't know that 2011 took theirs online, my class took them on paper. News to me...thanks for the update

I would recommend bringing extra undergarments. That was one thing I had that I was so happy about. Seems they just didn't issue enough!

some plebes like to have compression type underwear even in the heat of plebe summer. it helps to prevent chafing during the runs. i don't think you should bring it to i-day though. have your parents mail it in your first package. it can be mailed from the Annapolis post office on i-day once you have your PO box number.

Do compression shorts have to be a specific color?

all the midshipmen said they had to be white during the summer. One of the guy mids was talking to a guy drag and told him to bring about six pairs with him to I day. He said they were great.

Thought it might be a good idea to bump this thread back to the top as I day gets closer

Should I bring a bag to I Day? I'm not really bringing anything that won't fit into my pockets.

What will happen to my civilian clothes if I don't bring a bag?

Suggest bringing an old (and empty) back pack to put your items in. Label it with your name and company number (if you have that)- if not, you will label it when you check in.

You can wear a pair of compression shorts on I-Day, and perhaps bring one spare to get you started. (Our Mid packed his in his athletic bag, which was dropped off with the coach the day before I-Day).
Have the rest of them mailed to you.
