I-Day

We are leaving Saturday the 24th (ATL to COS direct) and are spending the week at the Academy Best Western.

I'm on the 1440 out of Denver as well.

Out of Seattle at 0900 to Denver for the first leg.

I'm on I27 out of Lubbock at 0900, I will be taking the.......Toyota.

28th...B&B...already have my sponsor family taking me in.

Flying on I-Day
Depart Atlanta, Georgia at 6:30 am
Arrive Denver, Co at 7:30 am
Drive to COS by 9 am
Wooooo... cutting it close, huh?

And two questions...

1 Anyone know exactly what to do with the DNA Card

2 What do we do during check in from 7-11 am?

1-I'm pretty sure we just fill it out (the items on the front), and then bring it with us.

2-we'll find out soon enough ;).

on your check-in, you'll have the opportunity to set up financial stuff, though don't worry about it, most do it in basic, and the aog says a lot of stuff, and there's some heritage speeches. a time to reflect on what you're going to do. Then you get in lines to get paperwork/fill out certain things, at this point, once you go up the stairs (you'll see what I mean), you've said goodbye to everyone and you're on your own. Get your positive attitude prepped, and remember, don't take anything personally. Then get on the bus, and you'll find out from there. Don't get there too early, show up no earlier than 8:30 if you can, I think between 9 and 10 is a good call. Just keep trucking through everything, you'll do fine, good luck!

Great info sj, especially the part about not being their TOO early. That's what I heard at orientation. Thanks.

Why is it bad to show up early?

What I heard from orienation was if you show up too early, you'll be finished with all of inprocessing stuff first and so you'll be standing (not sitting lol) in your room folding your shirts into nice 10x10 squares and doing all this other stuff in your room... while standing.

As odd as this sounds, standing and folding shirts in my room would probably help ease my mind. "Simple" task and distracts your mind. But that's just me. ;)

Don't assume that if you get there early you will just be folding shirts and having time to relax. I can't speak for how things will be run this year, and it wil vary from flight to clight anyway, but last summer, we only let our kids go to their rooms to change. The rest of the time, until after dinner, we had them in the hallway "introducing" them to the military. There wasn't physical training, but I will say that it was less than pleasant for them (and I almost made one of the intercollegiate foorball players cry). My recommendation is to get there toward the middle; that's what most people do so you'll have a lot more company.

(In case anyone was wondering, I didn't lie in my farewell e-mail. I am indeed in Europe right now. I just didn't think I'd have access to the internet. I still don't have much access, but I still like checking on here when I do have it.)

I can see you doing that UNcynical. lol. You crack me up. I hope to see you again someday.
