this is a girl question, smart idea to cut hair or not? mines pretty long now couple inches past my shoulders i know navy requires you to cut it but since air force doesnt is a particular length more convenient? haha i know its kindof a dumb question but as girls can relate it could make all the difference when get ready in the morning

jcr13, I did a quick advanced search using "girl hair" and found lots of info -- most recently the thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/air-force-academy-colorado-springs/632875-female-candidates-hair.html?highlight=girl+hair Check that for lots of information. Good luck!

wow hair is apparently a big issue for more then just me, thanks!

it really depends. I got my hair cut so it was short enough to put it in a ponytail and still be in regs. don't get it cut here during BCT because they will butcher it. some people left it longer, so it's easier to put up in a bun. pretty much, whatever is easier for you. you don't have a lot of time for hair, so if you are good at buns, keep your hair. if not, learn! you need to learn it anyway.

i'm tellin' ya...i swear by the braiding bun thing. truly keeps it up. but your hair has to be below your shoulders to be long enough.

i just shaved my head and then let them do it again... what's the issue ;)

one perk of being required short hair i guess!

Are you allowed to have a mohawk if its short enough?

Unprofessional.

You can get a skin fade (the shave the side of your head) and have them take it really high up. A lot of the TIs at Lackland do this - most of us active guys call it the TI Mohawk.

Also called "High & Tight" (ooorrahhh)

but that's not until after basic. during basic, all guys will have their heads shaved

it's really hard to distinguish people...

I know. The guys all look bald.
