A fellow member posted a thread saying they have high standardized test scores but low G.P.A. I am the opposite. My GPA is 5.94 weighted primarily because I have taken AP and IB courses. BUT, my ACT score is 26 and 27. My interview went great and I have excellent extra curriculars. I think my essays were alright too – my favorite being about what we don’t know.

Will my ACT be detrimental despite everything else I have worked so hard for?

Once you found out your ACT test scores, did you retake it? Did you take the SAT I? the SATIIs? What are your AP scores?

If the adcoms only have one low test score, that’s not a big deal (IMO). If you consistently test at that low level, that’ll tell them something else altogether, such as grade inflation.

I am in the same vote as you right now. I applied ED to Brown and have a 28 on English for ACT, and a 27 for Math. Average of 26. I would love to go to Brown…it is my dream school. But I am worried that my ACT score will highly diminish my chances of getting accepted. So I tried to go a different route…if I don’t have high test scores, I tried to convince them through my essays that I will bring diversity to the campus. Ivies LOVE diversity. Haha…so I will see how that worked out in about 6 days. Ehhh. I am really worried about it though. Even if I don’t get accepted for next year, I think I might try and transfer for my sophomore year. Let me know how it goes :)
