I turned my app in on time and all the supps and etc, but i never got an interview email. I even left a message on the Yale alumni interview regional director's answering machine, but no call back.

Does this happen often when you dont get an interview at all?

I submitted my entire application on November 28th and recieved confirmation in mid-December. I have yet to be contacted for an interview. And I live in NYC so it's not like they're short of alumni. I just hope this doesn't negatively impact me.

It won't negatively affect you if you are not offered an interview, they know that's something completely beyond your control. People got in EA with and without interviews.

SimonIsCool--the admissions office is still processing the names of applicants who got their applications in on time to ASC directors. Maybe your ASC director has not yet received your info from Yale. Until the ASC director gets your applicant ID from Yale, they can't really help you, although it would have been nice if your regional person had called you back. Maybe he or she is on vacation, crazy busy at work, etc. The ASC directors volunteer for this time consuming job b/c they love Yale and like working with high school kids, so I'm sure there's a good reason.

thisSHHH--The ASC director (or directors) in NYC is probably one of the busiest ASC directors in the country. It's probably like a part time job. I'm not surprised that in an area with so many applicants he or she hasn't gotten around to everyone yet.

Finally, Yale's applications have been up over the past few years and many regions do not have sufficient volunteer interviewers to keep up with demand. The admissions office is very aware of this and will not hold not having an interview against you. They know it isn't logistically possible for all applicants to be interviewed and it does not reflect you.

I havent been contacted for an interview yet either, is there anything we should do in the meanwhile or let someone know that we havent been contacted yet?

Citeruid--I'd wait until Feb. 10 or so and then get in contact with the ASC director for your region. The admissions office can probably give you the contact info. I wouldn't do it right away because the directors are still getting names from the admissions office and, because they are volunteers, may just not have had time to get around to everyone yet. Don't wait too long, however, because interview reports are due on March 1.

If you do talk your ASC director, do not be accusatory about not having been contacted. Take more of a "hey, just calling to see if I could get an interview" approach.

Nemo--See post #4 on this thread. Yale tries to interview everyone who requests an interview, but doesn't have the volunteers to talk to everyone. Getting or not getting an interview has NOTHING to do with Yale's level of interest in you.

Is it possible that an interviewer or ASC director emailed you and you accidentally deleted it?
