Is the information (soc sec number) visible to my child if i fill out my portion of fafsa? She does not live with us and hasnt for two years and don’t trust her.
Honestly, it’s not even available to you! It gets **** out on the forms as you put it in.
And I know that if you use the IRS DRT, your income also is XXXXX’d out.
If you don’t trust her, I am curious as to why are you even bothering to fill out a FAFSA?
The non-custodial parent does not have to fill out the FAFSA.
Who does she live with?
@3puppies parents fill out FAFSA all the time for children that they’ve had trust issues with
Per the OP: “She does not live with us and hasnt for two years”
OK, I was assuming she lives with the other parent. Maybe not.
^^^we don’t know who the student lives with.
If the child lives with bio dad then bio mom’s info will mot be used on Fafsa
I believe that the student can start the FAFSA, then create a save key, and the parent can with that save key access the FAFSA, fill in their information (use the IRS data retrieval for the taxes if possible) and sign with their FSA ID, and student can sign with their FSA ID, and submit.
But yes, if parents are separated or divorced, then the parent whom the student lived with more in the last 365 days (as of the day the FAFSA is filed), would put their information.
