I'm satisfied with my PSAT score - 228. I realize the SAT is longer and has an essay, but do I really need to study substantially to just add a zero at the end of my PSAT score? I'll probably take a practice test or two, and I'm a good writer so the essay shouldn't be a problem, but is anything else needed? Did any of you have scores that dropped from PSAT to SAT?

My brother dropped from 218 to 1980...that's pretty significant. He claims that he didn't concentrate well and really didn't care much though (cause he already got a 34 ACT and was happy with that)

You don't have to study 'a lot' for your SAT if you did that well on your PSAT (and it wasn't a fluke). What you say you plan to do - just some practice sections - should be enough to show you the differences between the PSAT/SAT (the SAT really just has some more math problems of a "higher difficulty level" ~~ and it is way longer ._. so don't get fatigued).

I dropped from a 198 to a 1770 then and 1870. I then took the ACTs and got a 30, which is about equivalent to the original 198. To be honest, the only reason I did poorely on SATs is because the math wasn't fresh on my mind like it was when I was a sophomore. I was in Pre-Calculus, and most average students are in Algebra 2.

My ACTs were funny too. I would have got a 33+ on Math had I not bombed the Algera/Coordinate Geometry sections. I took Algebra 2 as a freshman and Geometry as a sophomore.

My suggestion is to review the easier stuff when freshman/sophomore year. You'll be surprised what you forgot.

And study for the SATIIs. Somehow, I had never done log/ln functions...it was a big surprise when I found 5 problems dealing with them. Still did decent, but not great. Only a 610.

Thanks all.

If you're a good writer and you score in the same range on practice SATs, you should be fine.

I dropped from a 203 to a 1970.
not all that much, but enough to put me under my goal of 2000. Inever got there again. my highest SAT was a 1990.

just remember that the ppl at sears who struggle to make 8 dollars an hour with commission once said the same thing
