I don't fulfill the requirement!! Help

I am definitively interested in Princeton. I checked out its website and it says they recommend four years of foreign language. I am going to stop with two years of French because I absolutely hate it. I can't switch because it's too late.

I really want to be a Prince.bPlease give me some advise. Is it mandatory that I should take four years of same language? Thank you.

Well, it's only "recommended." You should take four years of a language, but it certainly won't be advantageous to you if you do poorly in it.

Odds are, it's not really too late to switch. Maybe the deadline passed for course registration at your school. Maybe you have a scheduling conflict. Whatever the issue, if you put enough weight on your counselor and are willing to make sacrifices in terms of the rest of your courses, I bet you can continue with your language. You need to take more than two years of a foreign language. There are a handful of people who get in with just two, but these people are usually hooked. Call your counselor and explain your situation. Don't focus on it being a requirement for Princeton--just explain that four years of foreign language are required at a number of the schools you're applying to.

While it's probably good to take the 4 years of language, it is not required. Only taking 2 years won't break your application, provided you're not writing down French (or whatever language) as your major.

The French department at my school sucks as well, and I took three years of language and dropped it to take AP Computer Science my senior year (I want to be an engineer), and I still got into Princeton.

Thanks guys. That helped.
@ Weasel8488 = It's not that I can't take French, but It's just that I don't like it. The way the teachers teach French is so appaling. I want to, like sunshine_breeze, self study AP Comp Sci A (that's waht I too want to major in).
I guess ill reluctantly take French 3 as a Senior . . .
