I don't get u- substitution

can some one please explain to me u substitution or give me a link to a good site with the u-substitution method

i need help fast!!!!!!!!!!!!

could i get a 4 or 5 without the u substitution or do i need to learn it??????????

It's kind of important.

that seems a little complex from the start any thing easier

just pick a value from the integral to set as u. Then take the derivative of that value and ensure that it is there. If there is coefficient needed to make a value du, put the inverse of that value outside the integral.

i dont see how u can take calculus without knowing u sub

well many people just look at the integral and visualize where the constant factors would go if you differentiate, and then reverse that mentally...

at least, that is what I do...

that works until you get really nasty integrals.

if you don't know u sub, you probably can't solve 90% of the integrals.

^ False. I don't use u sub and I got a 5 on the 1998 AB test. I do it in my head. I still don't get the changing bounds thing though.
