Well, this is awfully embarrassing. My mom took me out of school in the first week of the 9th grade for social anxiety. When she tried to homeschool me I refused, and so homeschooling never actually took place. I know that’s awful and I regret it fully and regret not even being in school everyday so please save the incredibly obvious criticism.
Now this has left me without a GPA. What does this mean for me?
You dropped out of high school. Talk to your mom about your desire to start high school now.
Why are you even worried about a GPA?
I’m 20, and yes I just recieved my GED in December and scored pretty high. I’m currently studying for the ACT and I’m aiming high there as well. I’m just worried that without a GPA I won’t really end up anywhere
Sounds like you might need to start at your local community college and then transfer to a four year school. The community college will give you a chance to make up any deficiencies you might have due to your lack of education. Once you have two years of CC you will have a GPA to use as a transfer student and you won’t need to worry about SATs or ACTs.
Will it be the same as if I had spent those two years at a four year school?
@EdwardFellow I am not sure what you are asking, but most CC students take their basic requirements are the CC and then transfer over to a four year to finish their degree, so it would be like taking the first two years of college at one school and finishing up at a second school.
If you had to ask this question, for your own good, please make an appointment to discuss your plan with a counselor at your local community college.
I think that community college system in the US is the best thing on earth. I, an immigrant coming to the US with no record of past education, wouldn’t have made it as today if it had not been for the community college system.
You have a GED with a high score and you’re a non traditional student. That’ll replace your GPA for many colleges.
Are you a man or a woman? (as top women’s colleges have special entrance for women who didn’t go to college).
On practice tests for the ACT, how high are you scoring? Above national average as in 23, or above CC average which would be in the 30’s? Try training with Khan Academy and see if you do better on the SAT. Remember that you’ll need to take the SAT several times and that you’ll need your scores for November-December to get the best scholarships.
Have you taken foreign language, math, science, English, and history? Can you use Coursera and EdX to make up any deficiency?
What’s in-state for you?
