I don't have any graded essays to send in?

I'm really worried because I don't have any essays from this year that have already been graded and sent in. The teachers don't give any out until the conferences and the deadline has already passed anyway. I have all of mine form last year though. I don't know what to do!

My son’s teacher assigned one to all students who applied.

The next best thing to turning in a current one (I think) would be turning in one from last year.

My dds teacher keeps all of her papers as well but my daughter emailed her teacher and her teacher gave her a copy with the graded cover letter. So definitely ask
your current teacher.

If one of the application requirements is a graded essay from a current academic class, how is it the “next best thing” to turn one in that isn’t current???

But, avoiding the problem won’t make it go away. You need to talk to your teacher, explain the situation, and see if he or she will give you one of your graded essays. Then get it into the school immediately.

If that’s not possible, then you need to send a note explaining this to the school. If the conferences are coming up soon, perhaps they will accept the delay.

But, either way, you need to find a way to solve the problem!

@dodgersmom; Actually, I don’t remember which schools, but I have seen on multiple applications to send a graded essay from last year if there are none from this year.

“Please submit directly to the Phillips Academy Admission Office a copy of a recent writing assignment, corrected and graded.” Does this specifically mean an essay?

That may be true, aaralyn, but mayafairy has said that she is applying to Deerfield, and their requirements clearly specify a graded essay from a “current” academic class - and the bolding is theirs, not mine.

If she wants to do something else, she needs to ask the school.

@dodgersmom Oh, I didn’t know mayafairy was talking about Deerfield. One of the schools I’m applying to (Choate) said that if I didn’t have a current, graded, corrected essay from this year I could turn in a graded and corrected essay from last year. So, @mayafairy, listen to what dodgersmom said and disregard my suggestion, because I didn’t know what school you were talking about. But my guess is they’ll tell you the same: graded and corrected. :)
