For someone who has decent extra-curriculars and high stats (lets say 4.4 W, 2300 SAT), which would be easier to get into?

Cornell ED for engineering or UC Berkeley in state for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (hardest major to get into in the hardest Berkeley college to get into, College of Engineering).

If you're a California resident, I think UC Berkeley EECS is equally hard to get into as Cornell ECE in terms of raw admissions rates. I don't know about the selectivity of the other Cornell engineering majors, though... If you're not a California resident, however, Cornell ECE is probably easier to get into than UC Berkeley EECS in terms of raw acceptance rates. Take it from me -- as someone who applied to both UC Berkeley EECS (out-of-state) and Cornell ECE (regular decision), I was immediately rejected by UC Berkeley EECS but merely deferred to the waiting list for Cornell ECE.

Okay, so that makes this a dumb question because I didn't specify the obvious? Do you really think someone with a 4.4 and 2300 write an All-your-base-are-belong-to-us essay? And I'm not asking whether or not someone could get in, I'm asking which is easier.
