Okay, so apparently I'm still considered out of state cause the school hasn't approved me yet. I havn't paid the Aug 15 bill yet, cause I've been waiting for them to approve me as a California resident. Anyway, it's Aug 13th and I don't think I'll be approved before the 15th. So I guess I have to pay out of state tuition.

My bill right now says, I have to pay $7,630.95 on the 15th, the amount of Aid that's been sent to Cars is only $6,286.50 I accepted my loans today, but it says that the transaction is pending.

So basically I'm over a grand short of the Aug 15th bill. I'm not sure of what to do. How long does it take for loans to finalize? and Im assuming cars and loans will pay automatically?

Does UCB provide leeway? Or is my spot going to get revoked?

I've tried calling the office of the residency before but their phone system is a sham. I got the run around with the electronic button pushing crap, I never even got to talk to someone real, and it hung up on me.

How long will it take for the loans to clear? I can pay the whole thing with loans included.

Who should I even call to ask for help?

Late fees will not incur until a month later. You don't have to worry about any revoking matter or anything closely related to such. The Out-of-State residency thing seems to have been a problem with a lot of people, but most of them have had their problems solved by now. Did you send that form in late, too? Your loans will not be processed for a while, that's just how things are at Berkeley- too many students, not enough staff, red tape everywhere. Speaking about loans, what were the steps you took to "finalize" them? If you mean accepting them through Bearfacts then that's only one part of it. Make sure, if you haven't, to complete and return the Promissory Notes and if you have a direct federal loan to take the Entrance Counseling Exam and MAIL in the results to the Financial Aids Office. These must be completed before your loans are "finalized"; merely pressing the "accept" button doesn't amount to much (actually, it amounts to zero dollars which, I suppose, can be considered not so much). Anyways, I've never tried calling any of the offices at Berkeley. I figure I'd just get the situation you and many others have described. Just take your time and be patient- they don't want to hear your yapping and much as you want to have to do so. This is all part of the "Berkeley Exam" as I call it. You've got to take the initiative, be ahead of the curve, and know what's going on. For now, just let things smooth over on its own. It sounds like you've got the basic stuff done, albeit a little late, so just relax and if you're still uneasy then wait for an opportunity to speak in person- the phonelines are not your friends. I hope everything turns out well, and best of luck,
